5) my diary / bundles have been donated to the archives of the local library; with some pictures, a few letters and some biography about myself. When I am gone, it will provide great insights in American life of the late 20th century.

3) summarize entries over 6 months or a year. That assures that I learn my life lessons through my thick skull. 4) my entries in loose leaf paper, tied by year. That protects my privacy - if one discovers my diary, it is only for one year. Other bundles are hidden somewhere. No bound journals.

I have kept a diary in the past 55 years. You are right, it is not a daily account. Entries come and go in spurts. My rules: 1) be honest with myself. Document my stupid mistakes as well as my successes. 2) periodically review all entries up to a year ago. Have discovered forgotten blessings.
