I have gotten maybe 12 hours of cumulative sleep this week and I know it's catching up to me because for some reason this picture of Bellsprout is the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life.

It's the standard picture of the Pokémon Bellsprout. Nothing about it is particularly funny. I mean, it kind of is because Bellsprout is inherently ridiculous-looking. With his dumb wall-eyed expression. Also it looks kinda like he's running. Where does he have to be? He's a plant. What a little fool. Actually yeah, this picture is hilarious.

You'll see this guy around sometimes with a sign that straight up says "sign here about rent control" What an awkwardly worded sentence. It's almost like you're trying to avoid saying that this measure is "about" getting rid of it.

I also have a soft spot for her movie THE VOICES, where Ryan Reynolds plays a man with schizophrenia whose hallucinations manifest as the voices of his pets. No idea at all if it holds up, but I really liked it when it came out, even though all my friends hated it when I showed it to them.

Ch 9 BARRELS OUT OF BOND—It's always fun when you reach the part of the book that's on the cover. (I've been reading my Dad's old copy from the '70s.) Apparently this was Tolkien's favorite of the watercolor illustrations he made for The Hobbit.

My copy of The Hobbit (technically my Dad's). The cover uses Tolkien's watercolor illustration "Bilbo comes to the Huts of the Raft-elves"(1937) it depicts Bilbo escaping Mirkwood by riding a barrel down the river. Four other barrels drift down the river in front of him, presumably containing dwarves.

1) The Popeye Chapter Titles Yes. This is #1. Holy shit, these were rough. Lining up the original titles, getting it to track right as it tracks in, cutting out Popeye's head frame-by-frame, adding a new "toot" for each chapter. Dammit I'm proud of these.

5) I got to meet Don Mancini at Queer Screams in Portland. When I told him that the name of our film was "DEMON TWINK" he said that he had to explain to an actor on the CHUCKY TV show what a Twink is. I don't know who it was, but I like picturing him try to describe a Twink to Brad Dourif.

I like that the Simpsons this week was just kind of a low-stakes "let's go camping and learn how to hug" episode. It's also always good to see more of Maya. If they wanted to, they could easily get a whole episode out of exploring Moe's weird family tradition.

I grew up with the ones like this, which also sucked ( I think plastic is just very bad material for flip coins). But their solution was to make them even larger and more awkward.

The '90s Pokemon TCG Pikachu coin. It's a little bigger than a quarter and made of lightweight plastic. Just looking at it makes you think "I could never flip that. What a terrible coin."

Nice to see that the Pokémon TCG has continued their proud tradition of making the least flippable coins possible.

Sometimes I make an asset for a video and then I get sad that I have to give it context later.

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to Trinket. After trying to figure out why she would occasionally get unexplained health problems, it turned out she had Pancreatic Cancer. By the time we caught it, the cancer had already spread to her liver, and it was too late. I'm going to miss her. Best cat.

I'm passed out on a brown leather sofa with my shirt open. I can't remember why my shirt was open, but clearly I was exhausted. Trinket, my long-haired tuxedo cat has decided to lie down on my chest.

The Simpsons this week was really solid. Wish we'd gotten to see more of how Grampa and Moe work as a team, and the gambling element feels a little tacked-on, but somehow it all kinda works anyway? Also, good for Martin & Lewis.

Got to see The Matrix Revolutions at the Academy Museum yesterday w an opening conversation between Lilly Wachowski and Lyndon Barrois. At one point, Lilly said "The APUs have armor everywhere except over the person. That seems like a bit of a design flaw. They sure do look cool, though" I love her
