There is a reason why there are so few truly leftwing politicians visible in public life. Because the media’s role is to weed them out, to discredit them, to place them beyond the pale, to other them. Matthew Alford reads my latest: jonathancook.substack.com/p/listen-how...

The big distinction in politics is between those who believe in Science and neoliberals like Starmer, Blair and Truss who reject it in favour of economic theories.

Revealing that spy chiefs' warnings on ecosystem collapse were suppressed shows how politicians bury uncomfortable truths. When climate breakdown threatens food security and defence, hiding intelligence reports is reckless negligence. Why hide climate risks? (1/2) 🤔 #ClimateCrisis

According to the scumbag Times owned by the scumbag Rupert Murdoch the UK needs to be 'weaned off the State Pension', which is actually more than paid for by NI contributions. What the UK really needs to be weaned off is Rupert Murdoch. Get this evil fucker and his disgusting rags out of the UK.

Ed Miliband’s statement on Israel is only a first step. We need to go further: a full ban on goods, services & investment. Labour is still shamefully refusing to recognise the Gaza genocide. We must have a full arms embargo, full sanctions & an end to military collaboration.

Officially, the water industry in England is regulated. Practically, it's unregulated. There's no difference between what it does under the eye of the Environment Agency and what it would do if the EA did not exist. The EA is completely useless, by design. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Our rapid disillusionment with political leaders is treated by much of the media as some kind of pathology. But what I see is these leaders backtracking on their promises, dashing people's hopes and serving the ultra-rich ahead of the rest of the population. Why wouldn't we be disillusioned?
