This has happened to me 3x but I've found people who explicitly want to review ttrpgs but said Godstorm was too long which is fine. When asked what chapter I want them to read I say 4 and every single one of them read chapter 1+2 and then reviewed that.

People take things very very literally. I put in lore blurbs for a chornomancy class and the unreliable narrator for the flavor text contradicted himself 3 times in 11 abilities. The person did not understand he was unreliable and thought I was mistaken/daft

My hot take is that in combat focused games the pacifist character should not or cannot exist. You cannot be 1/4 of a group and refuse to attack but turn a blind eye when your party beats someone to a bloody pulp. It just doesn't make sense and I didn't see that until I played a pacifist character.

To tie this to lancer a bit there is some amount of cheese that is good for the game. Moving while intangible, making huts for smart weapon users to blast from, and sending pyros at your burn immune players. I really enjoy prep without considering my players. It let's them feel smart

In 40k Mechanicus there is an equipment that as long as you don't attack you are not targetable. I exploited the living hell out of this. All my supports ran around invincible and on some missions I could beat them with just not attacking, going to a location, and then running back.

If instead they say "oh neat" and don't ask any questions then they either don't care and it's not worth talking to them about OR they don't know ttrpgs well. In either case it's not worth it to dive into nuance. My mom has no idea what a ttrpg is and I don't care to explain it as an example.

Generally speaking, yeah. I talk about my hobbies and ask questions to others. Also it's really really easy to see if anyone has any familiarity. If I say I'm playing DnD and they ask any question that's vaguely relevant to the game I'll talk about it.

I think many in law enforcement would agree with you. They have a history of putting a lot of other things above giving second chances. It's kinda systemic in the US's prison system.

Personally I believe in people changing. If someone gets arrested at 18 for that, they aren't the same person at 35. Also that's infrequently a chosen path usually its due to abuse, fear of poverty and coercion.
