As our campaign for Industrial Music / Graphics draws down to its final minutes, we are sending thanks again to our nearly 400 backers. This book has a specific community in mind, and we're making a small (1–2") embroidered patch as thanks for you all. More updates as the book develops!

We are in the home stretch of our campaign for Industrial Music / Graphics, and it's looking good. The bodhisattva of immersive graphics @rob-sheridan.com recently posted to his wide community, which was a huge boost (thanks Rob!). But we could still use your help by sharing with your network.

Steven R. Gilmore has, by far, more credits in our research archive than any other designer in our book, Industrial Music / Graphics. His work defined the look of Nettwerk and its foremost industrial exponent, Skinny Puppy. He has now created two exclusive T-shirt designs for the campaign. 1/3
Two black T-shirts, one with a vintage hypodermic needle against a skull in profile on one, and two mirrored, bandaged faces in profile in the other, with the word "INDUSTRIAL" overlaid on both. Designed by Steven R. Gilmore for the IM/G Kickstarter campaign.

Nothing about our lead title, Industrial Music / Graphics, is prefab, and neither are the extras. Later this week we're going to start dropping sets of designer reward tiers: limited editions and ephemera from the people who built industrial’s look. Small numbered runs, gone when they’re gone.

Something we've been building for a long time: Industrial Music / Graphics, the first comprehensive visual history of the design language that grew up with industrial music. 320 pages. Live on Kickstarter August 11. Follow the pre-launch page now (link in bio).
A quote from Front 242 cofounder and graphic designer Simon Granger, printed over a Nitzer Ebb graphic: That Total Age was definitely constructivism. Belief was Chanel. Showtime was Ilford film packaging, the bold Futura and bright colours. Ebbhead was Gilbert and George. The influences were almost entirely non-music."

Steven R. Gilmore's graphic catalog is arguably why you can recognize industrial music on sight. He defined the visual language of Skinny Puppy and other Nettwerk artists, establishing the aesthetic that the genre has run on ever since. Four decades of 'industrial design' trace back to him.
The cover of the book Industrial Music/Graphics, designed by @heroicproject.bsky.social, to be released in 2027 by @signalspress.bsky.social. The cover features the book title set vertically over an illustration by Gustave Doré from Dante's Inferno, which was also used by Steve R. Gilmore for Skinny Puppy's 1986 single "Dig It"
