It's not too late to start wearing a fitted respirator to reduce your risk of acquiring an airborne virus. Good places to start wearing a respirator are in healthcare settings, aged care, public transport and in shops. Wear a respirator, protect your health!

Low case numbers don't mean low risk. COVID-19 is still circulating, and many people are finding that out the hard way. Worth a read. Source: x.com/1goodtern/st...

The text reads:
"I have seen several sad posts this week from people who stopped taking covid precautions because 'case levels are low', only to regret catching it almost instantly.
Case levels have remained low here, but Covid is in constant circulation, and may be on the rise again.
The reason there have been fewer cases for a while is that most people have temporary acquired immunity because they keep catching it every nine months to a year.
Keeping catching it is going to cause terrible health problems for some of them, so the temporary immunity isn't really a benefit.
But that lull gives the illusion that it's not around or a problem.
It is still around.
And it's only less of a problem at the societal level: smaller burden on emergency healthcare during lull, smaller burden of sick leave during lull.
It's still a problem for any individual that catches it.
As always: mask up folks."

🧵(1/3) NSW respiratory surveillance reports: 25 June 2026 Week ending 20 June 2026: 🔸COVID positivity rate: 3.0% (-0.9%) 🔸Number of laboratories reporting COVID: 3 out of 4 🔹COVID: 1,021 (-7.3%) 🔹Influenza: 1,545 (+31.4%) 🔹RSV: 2,623 (+12.0%) Source: health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/c...
The top portion of a document from the NSW Government titled "NSW Respiratory Surveillance Report – week ending 20 June 2026."
A prominent bold headline in a black rectangular border states: "Influenza and COVID-19 are both at a low level of activity. RSV is at a high level of activity."
Below this headline is a "Summary" section explaining that while influenza activity increased, it remained low, COVID-19 remained low, and RSV activity remained high, noting that RSV vaccines are now available for older adults.
The remainder of the page features a "Data sources and methods" section describing how NSW Health monitors respiratory viruses using surveillance data, wastewater testing, and genomic sequencing. It adds a note that public registration of positive RATs ceased in late 2023.
A data table titled "Table 1: Notifications of COVID-19, influenza and RSV, NSW, tested in the week ending 20 June 2026."
The table breaks down positive cases across three main sections—Gender, Age Group, and Local Health District—with a final Total row at the very bottom summarizing the overall case counts:
•	COVID: 1,021 cases for the week ending June 20 (21,714 year-to-date).
•	Influenza: 1,545 cases for the week ending June 20 (16,243 year-to-date).
•	RSV: 2,623 cases for the week ending June 20 (32,938 year-to-date).
A text brief at the top notes that in the past week, COVID-19 notifications decreased by 7.3%, influenza increased by 31.4%, and RSV notifications increased by 12%. The 0-4 age group accounts for the largest share of RSV cases (48% year-to-date), while Western Sydney and South Western Sydney record the highest case volumes across all three viruses.
A compilation of three bar charts titled "Figure 6. Weekly notifications of COVID-19, Influenza and RSV, by date of test and type of test performed, NSW, 1 December 2024 to 20 June 2026."COVID-19: Stays low in mid-2026, hovering around 1,000 weekly cases. This is much lower than its previous peak of over 4,000 cases in mid-2025.Influenza: Shows a slight uptick to about 1,500 weekly cases by June 2026. A legend indicates test types: Type A (dark blue), Type B (light blue), Type A&B, and untyped.RSV: Shows a sharp winter surge, rising rapidly to nearly 3,000 weekly notifications by June 2026. This approaches the previous year's winter peak of around 3,300 cases. The X-axis for all charts represents the test date from Dec 2024 to Jul 2026. The Y-axes track weekly notification counts, scaled to fit each virus.
A combo chart and table detailing COVID-19 sentinel lab data in NSW from December 2024 to June 2026.
An interpretation note states that in the last week, COVID-19 positivity decreased to 3%, influenza rose to 4.4%, and RSV test positivity reached 5.6%.
•	Figure 14 (Line & Bar Chart): Tracks the number of positive COVID tests (light blue bars) against the percent positive rate (grey line). The positivity rate steadily declines from a recent 4.8% April peak down to 3.0% by June 21, 2026.
•	Table 2: Displays a 4-week breakdown ending June 21, 2026. For the final week, it highlights 323 SARS-CoV-2 cases out of 10,594 PCR tests conducted, circling the 3.0% positivity rate. It also circles that 3 sentinel laboratories reported data.
