the more I use my switch in handheld mode the stronger the desire for a steam link client gets. my network is strong enough to have close to zero framedrops with link over wifi, and the switch would be the perfect device for a client. too bad nintendo would reject any attempt from valve #switch2

installed #fedora on my main PC this week. I love how snappy everything feels compared to windows 10. there's some issues to deal with for sure (thanks NVIDIA) but overall it's nice to not feel like the product again. my computer now works for me, not for an AI loving advertising agency.

one of the weirdest parts of #gamedev is what I call the "jank point", where near the end of dev the focus moves away from proper code architecture and efficiency into hacky fixes to get it over the line. might have hit that point this week. the phrase "fuck it" is becoming more common every day.

playing garden life and keep saying "oh no". my engineering brain: engaged. there are clearly some optims that must've been backlogged. LODs are seemingly not present. ultra settings looks no different to medium. i feel unreal is partially to blame. 40fps at 1440p on 3080. ouch. #gamedev #unreal

finally got the amd-pstate-epp driver working in fedora. thank you asus for not having the option to enable CPPC in my zen 2 laptop's BIOS, and thank you UniversalAMDFormBrowser for getting around that powersave mode now sits at 700mhz, also nice seeing 4ghz turbo boost speeds again. gotta go fast.

finally ditched windows on my laptop decided to try fedora because I've never tried it before and I like how generally polished the experience is got a new battery for the laptop as well, and it got 2.5hrs pinned to 100% usage with CPU benchmarks while trying to calibrate it. pretty great #linux

If you solder a ~10cm long "antenna" wire to a laptop's DRAM data bus, it makes it extra sensitive to electromagnetic interference. So much so that clicking a piezo-electric arc lighter nearby can induce bit-flips. I wrote an exploit to turn those bitflips into a shell:
