An emotional fic excerpt by mimi with spot art by Chanon! 🃏🩸 Preorders are still open for #TokyoRequiem, a #ShuAke noir charity zine! shuakenoir.bigcartel.com

Tokyo Requiem fic excerpt with spot art showing Joker lifting his mask and winking with his tongue out. A small stream of blood runs down his face. Text next to him says "And the winner is". The fic excerpt reads as follows: "Without asking, Amamiya knew that Goro would come to his rescue. He depended on him to break out of his role to do so. And in return, he promised to save Goro, too. It's too overwhelming to acknowledge the thought directly, too dangerous to think about it any further and wonder just what Amamiya thinks he needs saving *from*. Goro won't say it outloud, he won't even acknowledge it's there, but for the first time in years, Goro feels hope spark in his heart."

The fic exerpt reads: "How was work? You seem tired."
Akechi sighs "I met the Phantom Thieves."
Akira tenses, "Akechi-"
"They left a calling card on my desk."
"How'd they get into your office?"
Akechi brings his hands up and rubs his temples, "I've no idea. I had security pull the footage and didn't see anyone come or go into my office but me, and Sae."

A chase is afoot in this fic preview from @revelries.bsky.social with spot art by Robin! Preorders are still open for #TokyoRequiem, a #ShuAke noir charity zine! shuakenoir.bigcartel.com

Tokyo Requiem fic excerpt with spot art showing Joker and Akechi seemingly floating in midair. Joker is smiling and Akechi looks uncertain. Joker's left hand is on Akechi's right knee and Joker's right hand is touching fingertips with Akechi's left hand. The fic excerpt reads as follows: As soon as the words leave his mouth, Ren acts with nary a thought. Within a blink, Ren is close enough to count a startled Akechi's individual eyelashes. His fingertips graze against the crow's beak before Akechi jerks, but Ren stretches his hand and snatches the tiepin, dancing away with a laugh. "You--!"
"Me, me, me!" Ren crows, hopping out of the way from Akechi, then darts towards the city's abandoned circus grounds and coaxes Akechi to follow him. By the time Ren enters a rundown tent (but still standing, surprisingly), Akechi is red in the face in rage. (in italics) He's so cute!

Tokyo Requiem fic excerpt with spot art. The art shows Akechi and Akira by a large framed painting of flowers. Akira is handcuffed. The image is in the style of a movie frame, with small silhouettes of three audience members cheering at Akechi and Akira on screen. The fic excerpt reads: The second shot, Akira realizes with some chagrin, is in Akira's shoulder, but that's not the worst thing that could happen. He can't quite push himself back up with one bad shoulder and his wrists handcuffed together, so instead he shifts to try and roll off Akechi and stand up. Akechi doesn't let him; he reaches out and puts a gloved hand on Akira's head, like he's trying to protect him from any further shots. Cute, given that the sniper is already fleeing – Akira does have to admire his technique as he flits from rafter to rafter - but Akira doesn't exactly mind. Akira does offer, however, a quiet: "ow."

Mysterious notes from a phantom thief in this fic preview from Skye! Preorder your copy of #TokyoRequiem, a #ShuAke noir au zine, at shuakenoir.bigcartel.com!

Tokyo Requiem fic excerpt that reads as follows:

But Akechi looks over them again, spreads them all out on his desk and arranges and rearranges them, squinting to make out the message hidden in between ridiculous one-liners, and something catches his eye.
Try And Catch Me Before I Take Flight!
I'll Fall Into The Sea With This Jewel In My Hands.
Only The Sun Can Strike Me Down!
Three calling cards, each dated. Akechi checks the incident reports to confirm his memory--these three were sent on the three occasions that he and Joker had crossed paths, barring their very first encounter. If nothing else, Akechi can admit the man has a flair for dramatics and, as it seems, a penchant for history.

The bourbon appears, and the low-level babble of the others begins again, as if it never stopped.
The detective tries to light a cigarette. Sparks, yes, but nothing catches.
Swiftly, from nowhere, a lit match appears. Lights the tip of the smoke.

Tokyo Requiem fic excerpt with spot art. The art is greyscale and shows Akechi smoking a cigarette as he looks out a curtained window while it rains outside.

The excerpt reads as follows: The rain was pouring down on the nightlife of Tokyo, drumming on rooftops and windows. Goro Akechi stood at the open window of his apartment, a tumbler of whiskey held loosely in his hand, watching the water streak down the glass and distort the neon signs of the city below into bleeding smears of colour. It was late. Or early. The hour when the last of the drunkards stumbled home, and the first of the street sweepers began their rounds.
If he didn't know any better, he could be convinced the rain was trying to purify the streets of the scoundrels and similar vermin. But a cursory glance at any alleyway would let anyone know this was the time crime was the most active, hiding in the shadows and away from the eyes of curious passersby. No one would be outside at this hour, and if they were planning on it, the rain would stop them from even crossing the street.

Tokyo Requiem fic preview with spot art showing Akira/Ren from Persona 5. He's sitting at a table, eating something with a fork. The excerpt reads as follows: "Come on. Eat up. It's not good to sleep too much."
He places the orange juice on the table and settles the plate of fried rice on Akira's lap. The couch has enough space for one more, so he sits down, noticing how Akira only occupies one side when he slept. There's static coming from the small television, but at this point it's better to sell it than to repair it again. There's barely any broadcasts here. The lack of distractions help to keep him productive, but it's too effective for his liking.
It's not good to be bored. His mind does horrible things to him when he's bored.
He hears Akira chewing loudly, and it immediately snaps him out of the anxiety of ruminations creeping in. "It's good," he says with his mouth full. "Wife cooking very good."
Akechi's eye twitches. "I'm not your wife."
"Oh. I thought we were married."

Tokyo Requiem fic exerpt and spot art.

The art shows Goro Akechi in blue jeans, a black leather jacket, black hat, and sunglasses, outside of a building with a red neon sign that says Leblanc, and an Open sign in the window. The fic excerpt reads as follows: It's been months since he's been this way, but not long enough for his feet to forget the winding path through shady alleys and dilapidated buildings, nor the forlorn faces of the folks who call this place home. It's not uncommon for him to seek out the unsavory part of town; a detective must go to where the crimes lead him, after all. Akechi doesn't fear anything; he's been in more than a few close calls, and he's got a good head on his shoulders. But if Akechi had the choice, he'd be anywhere but here at this very moment.
Still, in no time at all he finds himself at his destination. It's just the same as he remembers: a dingy bar that reeks of smoke and regrets, lit only by a faded neon sign: Leblanc. A run-down bar long past its glory days, though the chatter and loud music heard from outside the door suggests otherwise.

The fic is by Katie, who is phantomhearts on Bluesky and Phantom_Hearts on AO3.

Preview of a #Shuake fic by Crow Corvidprince! Read the full work in #TokyoRequiem, a 200+ page Shuake noir au zine! Preorders are open until June 15! shuakenoir.bigcartel.com

Tokyo Requiem fic preview by Crow Corvidprince, who is thecorvidprince on Twitter.

The excerpt reads as follows.

"I decided to provide you a little incentive," the black-haired boy responds, stepping a little closer and snaking his arm around the detective's waist so he can whisper in his ear, "Who knows~ When you clear my name, perhaps we can think of some other way I can reward you."

Heat spreads in Akechi's face, creeping down his neck. He averts his eyes, positive the other man knows exactly what he's done to him. Eventually, maybe a couple of seconds later, once the thoroughly flustered detective has some time to recollect his wits, Joker lightly nudges his arm.

"I didn't realize I'd affect you that much," he giggles, poking the detective's arms a couple of times as he grins.

Akechi grabs Joker's hand and peels it from his body, smirking at the other man.
