shoutout to my neighbor that kindly put a few boxes of unused blank CDs next to the dumpster and not in it. dunno what i'll use these for but they're too cute to trash ♡

holy shit, project phoenix kickstarter had an update emailed this morning? there's no way this shit is happening still - 13 years since the kickstarter launched and 7 since the last update was posted with none of the original money left to back the project.

text screenshot from the 07/07/2026 email update for Project Phoenix on kickstarter:

"What comes next, and when
I am not going to hand you a release date l can't keep. Dates I couldn't keep are a big part of how we ended up here. So here is where things actually stand. We are aiming to finish production at the end of 2031, and the actual release date after that is still to be decided. I won't pretend otherwise.
I know that is hard to hear after a seven year gap. I would still choose a target I can stand behind over a comfortable one. As we lock down things I can actually promise, you will hear them, and you will hear them far more often than you have."

i love jojo so much, and to this day one of my favorite fighting games has been the arcade title Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Heritage for the Future (aka Jojo's Venture). whatever capcom was doing with this era of fighters i wish continued forever - gorgeous spritework, banger tracks & tight gameplay

jojo's bizarre adventure: heritage for the future soundtrack on cassette. front of jcard is shown festuring different characters from Part 3, icons of the full character roster is shown on the rear flap, and an introduction to the word of jojo is on the inner jcard flap. side a of the tape shod Jotaro and Star Pltinum on the clock tower stage.

the jcard and shell design took a long time, but i am rather proud of how it turned out. i wanted the tape shell to feature a/b side indicators that were only visible on their respective side, while also using a full print b side to add a perspective background when looking through the clear shell.

i admit, i will probably call all the tapes i've worked on my "favorite" but that's because there's always a new technique i learned or try to get better at. i learned a few things for my pikmin 2 cassette like doing proper perspectives and trying a slight visual illusion with the shell.

got a lil care package from a friend, he sent me a bunch of the coolest stickers i think he's designed 😭🥹 the little screen stickers are made to stick on top of the console stickers, they're just too adorable. i can't decide where i wanna put these yet!

got lucky on offerup and traded some old tech i never use for a retroid pocket flip 2. i've never had a dedicated emulation device, so i'm very excited to check it out! i think it's super cute lol

retroid pocket flip 2 closed, it looks similar to a nintendo 3ds xl for the form factor. it also has a gamecube skin on the top

the device opened up, with a single screen on top and typical nintendo button placement/colors on the bottom
