Yeah Fortnite ruined this for me in like 2019. Literally anything could collaborate with Fortnite and I'd be like "wow surprised that wasnt already in there." And everyone (except kinda Smash) feels like its just chasing that. Seems like it unquestionably works for marketing tho

What's funny to me is there's simultaneously a lot people into emo that like only listen to bands from like 2001-2007 but also a lot of people who listen to a ton of emo except the 2001-2007 emo pop stuff. This podcast (and group of voters) is pretty square on the latter
