It's Friday, so I have another show to offer That is after all the reason that I am on here Not just to chat randomly to people that I don't know (which I enjoy much more than trying to plug the show) www.mixcloud.com/RadioAbbey/s...

I'm told my show has the best curated playlist of any MT broadcast. I struggle to get listeners though, there's a lot fighting for your time, & it's just me promoting it. So, I am begging a favour - give it a go, just once, & if you like it, please say so www.mixcloud.com/showtune

Happy Birthday to the woman who first sparked my love of musicals - the incomparable Dame Julie Andrews🥳 Thank-you for a lifetime of joy😍

Absolutely fantastic, congratulations to @the-rsc.bsky.social and Daniel Evans on this hilarious and visually stunning production with the most gorgeous music from Theo Jamieson . A wonderful cast, so much talent, great timing and Jonathan Groff was everything that I hoped he'd be♥️

I have had the lovliest feedback on this episode from a few people who said that they didn't truly appreciate Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel until they listened to Barry talk about it www.mixcloud.com/RadioAbbey/s...

This year's @radioabbey.bsky.social quiz is on halloween, so somebody suggested costumes, and well, I have to do something Musical Theatre based, so now I am scaling up a costume that I made for my daughter when she was 4 (she was Wicked obsessed) - never done this before, wish me luck!

In November I am going to be working 2 days a week in London (on a project that I am not allowed to talk about yet) This means that I won't have time to produce new shows and I don't have enough time in a week to do them in advance. Unless I can do an interview well in advance...

Robert Hazle and Helena Northcote sing songs from forgotten British musicals, the favourites and the flops.

5 years in, lots of lovely feedback & I am still nervous every time I put a show out. I'd love to find a way to reach a wider audience, but it's hard without the power of an established station behind me or a name to sell. Someone suggested I should get it reviewed, but the thought terrifies me

This week I've a song from Rodgers and Hart's biggest flop, 2 numbers from early British Musicals to give a taster of The Shows We Used To Know (coming to The Tree House Bookshop Sunday the 27th @ 5pm) + usual mix of songs from all eras & bit of trivia www.mixcloud.com/RadioAbbey/s...

I am going to be working in London 2 days a week in November and won't have time to research, write and record the show in its current format. Trying to think of things that I can do to build some in advance (bearing in mind that I have to produce a weekly show up until Nov too)

The comments that I get that make me happiest are that people love the range of shows that I feature, and the depth of the research that goes into each programme - because that's what this show is about. I have achieved my aims www.mixcloud.com/showtune

I don't do reviews because I don't want to ever have to be negative about something that people put their heart and soul into. It does mean that I will always be on the outside of the circle looking in though.😞

One of the songs this week was the first song that I ever sang a solo in on stage aged 7 (one whole line in an amateur panto children's chorus) If anyone can guess correctly which song it was I'll post a photo from that show (If I can find one) www.mixcloud.com/RadioAbbey/s...

A random (and utterly pointless) thought just occurred to me whilst listening to Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Sometime around 1994 when I was a young usherette at the Gielgud Theatre, David Tomlinson came to a matinee. 20 years later I saw Angela Lansbury there in Blithe Spirit.
