Shiny Gardevoir from memory for @shoujo.gay surprise! I’m picking up where I left off with these. I respect people’s girliepop interpretations of this mon but like…this thing is scary as fuck, it can create small black holes, c’mon #empydraws

this is a really, really great piece about what's actually at the core of software. elianora does an excellent job describing the way that i've always felt about software but could never put into words. very much worth reading.

This is the new tech I had alluded to. @badflips.bsky.social discovered both the tongue and tongueless methods to do RTA perpetual air catching with no wall. It is incredible, and feels really cool to do. It's extra cool to see in the context of the level she is working on that features it.

i got it working and am going to start using it hopefully soon

i also want to say that multi-streaming is possible as well (and how i'm going to use it), so you can give an ad-free mirror to people who hate twitch :>

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 20/08/2026

i was considering renting out a vps to host a few owncast (self-hosted live streaming platform) instances for myself and some others. would any mutuals be interested in that? no payment or anything, i just want to to help people who want independent streams.

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 19/08/2026

i also want to point out the obvious: what smwc is doing is irrelevant because the mixtape folks made the *choice* to opt these hacks in without consent. just because someone else did something wrong doesn't make it okay to do that same thing. it just makes you *also* wrong.

for a long time, i've wanted to make a website but put it off because i didn't have anything to say. now i do. mixtape: a postmortem shoujo.gay/mixtape-a-po...

i wanted to try this out because it seemed interesting.

An image of results from a "soul virtues" quiz. The focused virtue is kindness, with a description that reads "no matter how many times I got hurt, I never let that make me cruel."

The virtue results are laid out as follows:
Kindness - 76%
Perseverance - 72%
Justice - 55%
Bravery - 39%
Patience - 37%
Integrity - 31%
Determination - 29%

A link to the site is at the bottom of the images. It says undertale.jadenthejaded.uk

well done. hopefully we can continue to iterate on this! i want to point out that the opt-out list is (perhaps by design) so easily defeated that it's absurd, so updates likely won't deter the... least respectful among us. but this is a great start and i'm happy to see people band against mixtape.

2162

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 10/08/2026

oh my fucking god, and they have the audacity to say that opt-out is a priority their solution to opt-out not being enforced on the first version of the program(!) is to disable the api keys for that version(!!) which will definitely fix the opt-out seemingly being entirely client-side

lmao. i realized how bad it was when i noticed that this windows-only electron app spawns a powershell instance with -executionpolicy bypass. no issues there :) i'm sure it only gets worse.

130

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 10/08/2026

@badflips.bsky.social has been thinking about this as well. we've been trying to come up with some ideas to make it very difficult to get around if using mixtape, but it's been hard to find something. excited to see what you come up with if you're working on it :>

mixtape and kaizoff are the products of people who do not understand the intrinsic value of art and have no interest in engaging with it. commodification of creativity and sincerity is something that can only be born of a sick world. they would have an AI generate romhacks for them if they could

the reality is that fighting these kinds of policies is going to cost you digital convenience. but you should do it anyway, because this is worth fighting against.

0222

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 25/02/2026

do not trust this. at all. discord has already demonstrated what they're willing to do and lie about. don't pay for nitro. start making plans to move to a different, preferably more secure platform.

13911

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 14/02/2026

starting to use irc and i genuinely can't understand how this got less popular over time. this rules, why did we ever move to other stuff???

1100

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 10/02/2026

i'm not saying that you should never listen to accusations, i'm saying that you should probably verify first before taking an action that could tank a legitimate artist's career. this is truly not a lot to ask for.

080

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 10/02/2026

the culture of accusing everyone of using gen ai and trying to catch them in some kind of "gatcha" is extremely toxic. it's tearing art communities apart more than gen ai itself is. have some respect for these hard working people.

1110

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 10/02/2026

seeing a lot of "someone made unfounded accusations against you, guess the burden of proof is on you now" what? fuck all the way off with that. maybe look at the art yourself (which is clearly not ai generated, by the fucking way) and stop blindly following moderation lists.

1160

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 09/02/2026

that's fair. i'm glad to see they reverted it. i'm definitely still willing to give it a try in that case.

110

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 09/02/2026

nevermind stoat uses gen ai lol, fuck that. the real answer is to wait 3 or 4 days and see what comes out when the dust settles.

46511

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 09/02/2026

there's an app called stoat (formerly revolt) that is effectively discord again but without the bullshit. probably will be the easiest transition from discord to something else. i made an account, we'll see what happens.

02810

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 09/02/2026

what gets me is that discord seems to be forcing verification in ways that allow them to sell more data. obviously, they shouldn't be doing this at all. but, if they had to, which they absolutely do not, there are methods that would be completely fine without forcing mass internet surveillance.

0184

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 09/02/2026

yeah so... that's it for me. i'm done using discord as my default. i'll probably go forward with signal, matrix, and irc. what a fucking disaster.

1252

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 02/02/2026

the only time i can recall him discussing politics is when the supreme court overturned roe v. wade. he said on stream that it was "a dark day." in any case, asking him to distance himself from a self proclaimed bigot shouldn't be too much to ask for.

i switched to zen browser following a couple suggestions here, and so far it's pretty great! it only has vertical tabs which is a challenge to get used to, but otherwise i think that it's a pretty good browser. i'd say it's worth a shot for anyone looking to migrate to a new fork.

0111

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 17/12/2025

so, uh, what firefox fork is everyone switching to? i'm not really happy with waterfox selectively keeping ai in and floorp seems unwilling to remove the ai features. what now?

5160

Shoujo @shoujo.gay · 14/12/2025

i was watching an interesting video involving some math and got jumpscared by "so i asked chatgpt to solve this and-" i can't fathom how people still think this is a good thing to do. i don't really care about why people do, they shouldn't be including gen ai in their videos at all.
