It’s time for a new 🧵 about one of our editorial board’s choice of an article from the journal’s back catalogue that was influential on them. This time it’s our Board Chair Bob Shoemaker’s choice of Valerie Pearl’s 1979 article, ‘Change and Stability in Seventeenth-century London’.

We are looking for a new Joint Book Reviews Editor to join our editorial board. They would cover the period from 1800, working alongside Kirstin Barnard, who covers the medieval/early modern period. You can check out the full Call for Expressions of Interest here; and please do also share widely.

Seeing the covers side-by-side shows just how much things have changed, but also how much they’ve stayed the same. I’m really proud of this special issue ❤️

Today’s the day! The 50th anniversary special issue of @thelondonjournal.bsky.social, which I co-edited with Bob Shoemaker, is published! It concludes with my rather personal reflection on the future of the humanities: I’d be very grateful if you gave it a read www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
