Blizzard is not trying to advance the actual world in any way. For a while now, it's been clear that WoW and its characters has just been a tool for the wrong people to push their own agendas. They don't see the game the same way the players see it and don't even try to listen to them.

Any attempt at trying to tell a deeper story seems cursed to fall flat. In the moment it seems promising but then it either leads nowhere or amounts to most predictable, shallow outcome that feels like we're being punished for engaging in it.

The writing team is all but committed to just wiping their ass with the game's lore to make sure "The Story They Want To Tell" gets to be told. Anyone-EVERYONE-spoke up about how the Harronir just don't work and actively break the game's lore and somehow they found a way to make it worse.

The writers aren't making any attempt to elevate the narrative. They clean up anything "problematic". Race, faction, character, etc. Edges are sanded down and controversial aspects are downplayed if not handwaved. It's so boring. Everything is "perfect" so that nothing rocks the boat.

It always struck me as odd that WoW doesn’t include any credits for like any of their expansions or even the base game but I think they for sure can’t do that shit now because the second people find out who wrote the quests for Midnight, the community would cook them alive
