I very much loved chatting with Iain about Forest City. He’s a great interviewer and we really got into the detail in how we could build the UK’s next city.

New Challenger Cities episode today on Forest City 1 with @shivmalik.bsky.social ... a big, bold and ambitious idea that seems almost ideally suited for a moment where Britain is apparently going to be open to such things. challengercities.substack.com/p/challenger...

Challenger Cities EP90: It Only Sounds Mad Because We Think Small with Shiv Malik

Is it possible to build energy, transport, water and homes under one project? Owned by citizens to unlock their productive capacity. With those people now freed to create, foster, invent and prosper. Unleashed because they’ve built a foundation of strength. This is the mutual future.

Pursuing equality will fail to deliver UK citizens anything tangible. Money equally spread between all age groups and classes in the UK, won't: 1. Buy you a home 2. Solve the energy crisis 3. Build more reservoirs 4. Get more trains/ trams 5. It won't even fix potholes!

Was so humbled to be invited on the BBC’s Radical podcast to talk about building Britain’s first city in over 50 years. We need new places that not only make daily life more affordable but also give expression to all the new possibilities the future has to offer. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Extracting land values to build a city with hundreds of thousands of affordable homes with trees and green spaces. What a novel idea, I think, as I look out of the restaurant window.
