Current World Record grabs 20 Missiles and 10 Supers, this isn’t technically optimal but it’s very likely to be just as fast on average as the previous records route (which skipped 1 missile pack just before Wave Beam) :) Prior to Oats 40:36 the record was a 40:45 by Zoast. Current WR is 40:22 :)

This run was insane, not because I haven’t had similar runs (I have) but because this happened in the Any% Tournament Qualifiers. Unreal. This is race World Record by A LOT, it was the first sub-41 in a race ever, AND @gebbu_ got a 40:59 on this same qualifier!! 🔥🔥🔥 LETS GO

I'm trying out some new stream tech today since the Any% Tournament Qualifiers started. I have an alternative canvas I use to record secondary versions of all my runs which you may have seen on my YT, and I'm going to try streaming that to a secondary stream now as well.

Happy Saturday! We're still on the WR Grind for Super Metroid Any% today and tomorrow. It's been an extremely productive week, and I've already put in over 60 hours ^-^; In terms of probability the chances that I pull this through today or tomorrow are slim, but I'm seeing it through!

This might be the best run I've ever executed, most of the time lost was due to bad/slow RNG (luck). I made a big mistake during Ridley that lost 8 seconds compared to how the fight should have gone. Pretty crazy! I will likely be doing more World Record attempts tonight. It's really heating up!

Had a really silly run today. This thing had awful RNG from start to finish. Every step of the way the game was like "nah, F you" but I still pulled this time. :) very promising. Even better news: I'm off work this week and my plan is to grind grind grind.

The grind has slowed down due to required priority shifts IRL recently. Sorry for the lack of updates lately, both on the shortform videos and Any% progress in general. Managed to pull this run today, it had a bad room reset in the middle of the run among other problems. Solid!

Took a week off to hang out with friends who came to visit. Last Monday I did a run for GDQ Hotfix and didn't touch the game after that until practice yesterday. Sometimes breaks are good. This run had some really bad stuff, and ended up with a really great time!

Another crazy day in Any%, got a WR Gravity Pace (previous best was 12:58), and then this 40:51 was my 2nd best pace ever (maybe 2nd best ever ever?) to G4, but we got scammed on drops (had to refill). Hopefully the grind continues moving in a good direction! Also got a 40:59 at the end of stream.

I spent the last 3 days working on Segment Practice stuff. IRL has been extremely heavy lately and I have a feeling it's going to continue being difficult for awhile. I have a little breather break right now and really wanted to lock in for it. Segment practice was overdue.

The Ridley fight was about 30 SECONDS slower than optimal, and 25 seconds slower than the best-ish fight I've had a in a run so far. That alone is enough to make the difference for this to have been a new World Record, not even factoring in the Phantoon fight and other timeloss.

To put this into perspective, this run had a 1 round mid Phantoon, compared to the WR's 1 round fast, which means the pattern was 4-6 seconds slower, and yet I was still not only ahead at Gravity, but also still ahead *all the way to Ridley*. Unfortunately I botched Ridley :)

Runs were *insane* today. I'll just focus on THIS one and post the others in a comment. When I got back on the Any% grind the number one comment was along the lines of "why? your record is perfect. how can it be improved? are you crazy? do you hate yourself?" This run is why.

I had two crazy good runs today. The first one has probably the best late game I’ve ever played? The second would be WR contender without the time lost between Phantoon and Ridley fights. Pretty gnarly. That second run is also the best run I’ve done in 2 months, which feels good.
