Team Monster (MFC45009) are a set of Edgerunners for Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone. They can be used to form their own Edgerunners gang or be used as Mercs in other gangs. BattleTech has been much easier to get started since the Forcepacks came out, but for ages this was only BattleMechs. The Battlefield Support rules let your force get more varied while keeping focus on the 'Mechs. Now we have Turret and Battle Armour Forcepacks too: shinygames.uk/product-tag/...

On the tabletop, scenic Stoneheads are a common sign in Heavy Gear Blitz games. They can be found all across the planet, and on most battlefields. They make great cover for Heavy Gears, so long as you don't mind damaging history to save yourself from a rocket salvo. #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

Across Terra Nova, Heavy Gears are also big in sports. The most famous arena is in Khayr ad-Din, where duelist combats are bloody and lethal. Serving military must fight anonymously, but for others it is a place of new beginnings and opportunities. #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

Arena duelists typically use a wider range of equipment than is seen in frontline militaries. Melee weapons are more common and useful in duels, and showy weapons like the axe and spike gun shown here go down well. Equally older Heavy Gears such as the Black Adder, which have fallen out of favour with military units, remain in use due to necessity or pilot preference.

Heavy Gear Duelists are an important part of Heavy Gear lore, and the Blitz! rules reflect that. Every Heavy Gear Regiment has a duelist to defend their honor. #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

A Northern Jaguar and Southern Iguana, both piloted by the duelists of their regiments. The Jaguar is Sundown, the Gear of Senior Ranger Edward Scott, duelist of the 67th Northern Guard Heavy Gear Regiment, the Harvest Wind. The Iguana is Equinoxe, Gear of Adjudant Christophe Castigan, duelist of the MILICIA's La Compagnie Draconienne A. Because they must also fight wars as well as duels, military duelists typically carry a loadout capable of both duties. Equinoxe is unusual in carrying two vibrorapiers at the expense of an autocannon or rifle, but it retains the rocket pod for ranged work.

Our final faction, Leagueless, represents others on Terra Nova with a military force. Whether Homesteaders, nomads or mercenaries, they invariably live in the Badlands. Most have a connection with one of the major powers which influences the units they can field. #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

The general badge of the Leagueless faction of Heavy Gear, themed on the Badlands where such forces typically make their home.

While Gears from any Terra Novan faction can be found in Leagueless forces, they tend to be older models that the powers have made available to outsiders once they've finished their life as frontline units. That doesn't mean they're not useful combat units though - both these examples still have significant firepower for any conflict.

Leagueless folk can vary considerably, but these are two examples of Badlands garb. Depending on circumstances, tribal Badlanders can find themselves becoming rovers, who might act as bandits or mercenaries as the situation dictates. The Badlands seldom empowers you to follow your dreams and live your best life.

Settlements in the badlands need to survive vicious desert storms, so are typically built around an oasis tower that is fully capable of keeping food and water available. Another feature of the Badlands are the stoneheads, ancient stone bodyless statues, the origins of which are lost in time.

The CEF invasion caused asteroid strikes and humanitarian disaster which combined with the attack led to Eden surrendering without much conflict. They have not lost their honour, however, and many can't see how they can keep it while allied with Earth and the CEF. #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

While originally a bountiful and genetically fine-tuned world, a failed Tannhauser experiment within their system destabilised asteroids and caused them to crash into Eden and other bodies within the Ra system. This changed Eden forever and devastated the population, leading to a more feudal society although not without technology. Nevertheless, conflict became more limited between nobles and knights. A second, less devastating series of impacts accompanied the CEF's arrival, making Edenite defence against them almost impossible.

Eden is a feudal society of kingdoms ruled by nobles. Warfare itself is limited to Nobles leading power-armoured troops in Golems against each other like ancient knights. Meanwhile, on the seas, privateer kings made their living doing dirty work for the kingdoms. #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

To keep fighting but avoid further human losses, Utopia developed advanced automaton weapons that do not require a human pilot. The N-KIDU is the most common of these, typically fielded in units led by a human in an Armiger — Utopia's high-tech Gears. #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

Utopia is another colony that Earth has recently reconnected and allied with. While isolated, the surface of their world was destroyed by nuclear and biological weapons. The population huddled in bunkers which have now expanded into deep cities. #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

Peace River is no longer the only power in the Badlands. The New Coalition, or NuCoal, is a collection of settlements joined together for defence and prosperity. Their military core is Port Arthur, where abandoned GRELs from Earth's first invasion attempt gathered. #Terra NovaThursdays #Heavy Gear

NuCoal Gears are relatively advanced designs, often with hover capabilities as a secondary movement system. This is down to the large amount of CEF technology left behind (along with the GRELs) by the first Earth invasion.

The people of NuCoal are as varied as you'll find anywhere. From the GRELs of Port Arthur, through the Gear Gladiators of Khayr ad-Din (ruled by Saddik The Spider), to the mysterious Sand Rider tribes who have lent their support to NuCoal.

NuCoal consists of seven varied city states, centred around Port Arthur where the abandoned GRELs made their home. Khayr ad-Din is a lawless city which exists to host gladiatorial games in Heavy Gear form; this results in some of the best pilots on Terra Nova living here. Other cities, like Temple Heights, being a centre of several religions and a tourist attraction, are less natural members of such an alliance.

Peace River is a city-state in the Badlands, between the North and South power blocs. Built and run by Paxton Arms, the city is an extension of the corporation. With it's own production facilities and military, could Paxton and PR hold the key to Terra Nova's future? #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

Paxton Arms manufactures and uses plenty of their own Heavy Gear designs. Here we have their standard trooper unit, the Warrior, with a pilot standing alongside for scale. The Shinobi on the other hand is a high-tech special forces Gear used for the most specialist missions.

Here we have two typical Peace River inhabitants, a Paxton Arms executive and a pilot in one of Peace River's military arms. Well, actually they're not typical at all; most folks in Peace River are part of the tightly controlled worker caste and carry out the mining or manufacturing the city requires, but you don't want to play a game about them, do you?

Everyone on Caprice lives in a massive canyon called the Cat's Eye Trench. Due to it's hostile terrain, Caprice has developed spider-like Mounts as their main combat vehicle. (2/2) #TerraNovaThursdays #HeavyGear

Caprice is a desolate world, and all Capricians live in the Cat's Eye Trench, a huge canyon. This concentration makes them vulnerable to CEF bombardment should they anger their new allies, so for now they aid Earth in its reconquest of other colonies.

Most Caprician combat vehicles are four-legged mounts. The Aphek is a Medium Combat Mount, great at climbing and firing from behind cover. The Ammon is a Heavy Mount, in this case armed with twin railguns.

This Junior Executive works for one of the Caprician Corporations who are at least officially allied with the CEF invaders. Many view them as having little choice, and life must go on. The Liberati resisted corporate rule, and now the CEF invaders too. Some corporations quietly support them, but there's nothing quiet about the support of this Partisan Commando.

The HT-68 Medium Hovertank is a typical CEF warmachine, while the GREL in a FLAIL suit provides a heavy infantry option.

The two most common GRELs, Mordred and Morgana class. The Mordred is the standard trooper GREL, big, tough and not asking any questions. The Morgana is smaller and faster, ideally suited to commando missions.

One of two main factions on Terra Nova is the CNCS—Confederated Northern City States—also just referred to as the North. It contains three leagues who work together. While each league has it's own military force, they also contribute to their joint military, the Northern Guard. #TerraNovaThursdays

Terra Nova (latin for New World) is like Earth but hotter; humanity can breath and gravity is similar. While the poles are temperate, the large band around the equator is a desert known as the Badlands. Society grew best at the poles, leaving the Badlands as dangerous territory. #TerraNovaThursdays

Heavy Gear is a sci-fi setting, first published in 1996 with the Heavy Gear RPG & Tactical System. Initially set in 6132, it focuses on Terra Nova, a world colonised by Earth. When contact with Earth was lost, Terra Nova had to fend for itself and resolve its own problems. #TerraNovaThursdays
