This is the guy, Tripod (he only has 3 full arms). We’ve had a new mockingbird investigating all the rocks recently and I feared the worst, since he isn’t the fastest runner, but he popped up in a new part of the yard this morning and ate some crickets I gave him. I’m so happy!

I learned about the Hawaiian "Solo" Papaya type, apparently they don't have that fishy smell flavor... this dwarf variety is super cute

Every 2 weeks I buy about a hundred of these guys (field crickets) and then dole them out to the lizards and my quail as snacks. They're really easy to keep in a tank filled with vermiculite; I just throw a carrot in there every other day and they eat it for water and food.

After weeks of feeding the resident garden lizards (mostly S. occidentalis & U. stansburiana) they've stopped running away when they see me and now scamper briefly to get my attention and then wait to see what I'll do, lol. They all do a celebratory pushup after eating, it's so cute. Some old pix:
