peter svidler is the funniest chess player to ever exist

peter svidler: "What I am doing here is: you don’t play the Berlin and you probably hate the Berlin, but the problem is I also don’t play the Berlin and I also hate the Berlin," said Svidler. "So none of us are enjoying this!"

what is the origin of pronouns coming in sets of at least 2? i am a cis guy and one pronoun simply suffices yet i never see any other cis ppl use a simple “he”/“she”, always “he/him” or “she/her”. i know it’s convention but like why

the only people that have added me on their close friends list on instagram are two RANDOM sophomore girls that i have talked to like... Twice each for context i don't actually think most of my friends use their close friends list (i don't) but it's a little bit peculiar regardless

we really need more brilliancy in the final third. the one good thing about today's match is that barco looked easily PL-ready at least from the little he played, he very nearly made an instant impact with welbeck's near-miss. excited to see more of him

my mom (whose first language is not english) does not understand pronouns she routinely calls me “she” (i’m a cis guy) and my sister “he” (she’s a cis girl) and has done so ever since i remember i don’t even want to try to explain “they” to her at this point lmao

i’ve seen many people state that “the winner of the 2024 candidates is basically the world champion” and while ding liren would indeed likely lose a world championship match with his current form, it seems like many just assume his bad streak is permanent for some reason, which just seems odd

have to say i haven't exactly watched much of bayer leverkusen despite their incredible record and hype, but after watching the second half of their high profile bayern munich match, i can say that they are an absolutely brilliant team

brighton really should have conceded right now, our defenders (with the exception of estupinan who has had an eerily terribel first half) are the only reason we're not 2 or 3 down

000

somewhat regrettably, there seems to be very little chess content on bluesky. though i suppose it's expected because anish giri hasn't discovered this place yet
