Something I'd love to see studied but definitely hasn't been is how humans arrange themselves while waiting in groups in spaces. Empty rooms, tables but no chairs, tables and chairs, random objects, etc. I have a ton of meetings at work and watching the way people filter into rooms is fascinating

Conditioning is a hell of a drug. When I don't have a jump button in a video game, I feel uncomfortably stuck to the floor, despite jumping having zero relevance to my actual life. I feel like platforming puzzles in 3D games are, like you said, a sort of vestigial evolutionary artifact.

I'd argue all games, or at least within a rounding error of it. It's just the nature of how games are made; they present a player with situations they recognize mechanically. Even "walking sims" have loops of 'go to place, learn something about the story, keep walking while digesting that new info'
