OH GOODNESS THEY SURE ARE. also oh god. sourcing ingredients in europe 💀💀 when i tried to make tortilla soup for friends in england I THOUGHT I had spotted corn tortillas at the shop earlier in the week. it turned out they were like. 50/50 flour/corn. they didn't fry right at ALL!! i was mortified

The patterns for who will draw her eye are predictable, and Shizu is almost as coated in them as she is in scales. There are troublemakers sure, but more that, there are outsiders - those whose place in Eorzea is not a given, those with particularly unique circumstances they have no reason to believe others can relate to, those struggle or refuse to seek the limelight.
This said, Shizu, wildly, would probably the only person I can think of who Ofri faces any kind of social anxiety with. Admittedly, not social anxiety in the traditional sense — simply a fear that trying to get closer to Shizu would go awry, being unsuccessful as best and hurting Shizu at worst. And a justified fear, at that.
In the wake of Stormblood, Ofri makes a concerted effort to be the one who extends a hand to Garlean and Garlean conscripts. To be the one who speaks to them with kindness and hope, and to be the first to do so. Not out of any particular sympathy for their plight, mind. Quite the opposite.
While she was always of the opinion that restorative justice was going to be more effective than punitive, it did not sit well with her that the onus for carrying out rehabilitation and reintegration seemed to sit squarely on the shoulders of those who were harmed the most. Particularly so in Ala Mhigo, where the highest positions of power seemed to invariably filled by those less directly affected by the occupation. Shouldn’t those who best able to face their oppressors work to actively shield the most traumatized, so they may process it all in their own time?
But who would she be to hold such opinions, as the one least affected by Garlemald out of anyone, if she could not swallow the pain her loved ones faced and realize it was not her own? And so, she elected to be the first hand, even to the undeserving. Even when if it made those she worried for loathe her.

Initially, I think Ofri would absolutely be warm to Jarrah, both finding them pleasant to chat with. While Ofri is an easy conversational partner, Jarrah brings more than enough the table to lead to hours-long talks.

However, it does come to a point. She wouldn't grow cold with Jarrah, but they would find that the increasing closeness... well. Stops increasing. It starts with polite evasiveness about Ofri's lifespan, then moves to redirection from their curiosities to their existing interests. While it's not a given final state, moving past it would take extra effort.

Though — this would be unfair to Jarrah to say that this counts as any kind of reflection of Ofri's opinion of Jarrah. Because it isn't.

The only one Ofri is avoiding with the distance is herself — just as Jarrah sees a bit of themself in Ofri, Ofri would see herself in Jarrah's recognition. And she worries that if she crosses this lines with them, the silent parts of her that have managed to hide from even herself will be drawn out and exposed, and a threshold will be crossed that can't be returned from.

Vandar has that exact balance of natural charisma and visibly questionable character that would draw Ofri in like a fly to honey. There isn't a world where Ofri wouldn't oblige all 3 of Vandar's requests — save, perhaps, ones where outside forces have the wisdom and foresight to intervene.

Not because of any threat Vandar poses — Ofri would see the attempts at schmoozing for what they are. But Vandar would bring out Ofri's worst qualities. Genuinely her worst qualities; not self-sacrifice, but her willingness to become entrenched in schemes and to lie and manipulate in service of a Good. Even without treating Ofri like a Mark, she sees no issue with being dragged down to Vandar's level, if it makes uplifting her later.

Of course she's enthralled by what Vandar's saying. Of course she'd like another drink. You don't mind telling a lady more about yourself do you? Mmhm. Mmhm. And why's that? A glance over Vandar as she expresses sympathy in a vulnerable moment. Don't worry Vandar, it's okay to open up - of course you control the pace.

Small detail I really adore with these glyph-reliefs: The use of gilding to clearly identify the holy/blessed/mythic/items of power. It both is nice design to highlight to us what to look at, and an indication of cultural practice, associations of gold, etc.
