Occupational Hazard for a children's author - the kids are HONEST! I was at an event this weekend and a little one told me that I look "WAY older" than my bio pic. It's been a tough 4 years kid! But, point taken. I'll start using a new one soon(ish). 🙂

Here's to stepping away from the Writer's desk! I'm unexpectedly on Aunty duty this weekend. I've got the kiddos at the beach and we're looking for sea glass and I get the idea that finally gets me unblocked on world building for my next book! #amwriting #bookthreads

Today is a HUGE day! My book won Canada's largest Reader's Choice book award in the children's category. This is a book for anyone with any kind of speech challenge - because when you're voice won't obey what you're trying to say, it's OK! #bookawards #ampublishing #childrensbooks #canadianauthor

I wrote the book I wish I'd had as a child. An uplifting book about speech differences by an author who knows what it's like. Because when your voice won't obey what you're trying to say, it's OK! #booksky #kidslit #readyourworld #canadianbookclubawards #bestbooksforkids

I'm writing again! As in, the book woke me up at 1:30am and Chapter 1 spilled out of me. I've written lines that I read the next day and say "Holy Mack! That's good and I have no memory of writing that!". I have lines that are not good. But, you know what's GOOD. Feeling the buzz of writing.

Holy Moses! The hardcover is less than the paperback for my book right. If you've ever thought about getting this book this is a good time! (Perhaps as a gift? Maybe a teacher's gift?) * A book for people with speech differences by an author who knows what it's like. * a.co/d/10MbpXU

When you're a writer, and you really should post about that big thing and all you can think of is "I'm thrilled to announce that....". ERGH! I need to hack my hackneyed brain.

I'm SO THRILLED to read an article about my book and my author's journey in the WestCoast Families magazine holiday edition! * A book for children with speech differences by an author who knows what it's like. * The book I wish I'd had as a child * Makes a great gift!

The author holds her book as she sits on the roots of a large tree. The roots of the tree extend to the edges of the picture while the sunlight streams through green trees behind her.

If I can be a voice of 'lyrical storytelling, deep connection to nature, and a genuine respect for children's perspectives', then I've found my place in this crazy world. How humbling to see this article! Don't mind me, I'll just be over here trying to process this.

Power's out. So I have the gift of a quiet house and time to put pen to paper and write, right? And yet here I am draining the battery on my phone. WHY!? Writers write. And fight writing. And whine about fighting writing. And post about whining and fighting writing... Sigh! #authorlife #authorwhine
