Lauraliee Lumijer as Nenya the water warrior and Prince Diamond Pendragon — the two main characters of the Warriors of Virtue YA fantasy series by Mili Fay. Lauraliee is a pale 16-year-old girl with chestnut hair and grey eyes. Diamond Pendragon is a very old dragon-person who appears to be twenty. Happy #KidLitArtPostcard Anniversary! I’m Mili, author/illustrator from 🇨🇦. Around 1988-9. Before the war and immigrating to Canada, I spent a lot of time with my cousin and sister on the mountains with my grandparents. I remember twirling with fairies… milifay.art #KidLitArt #YA #MG #GN #F

Illustration of Mili Fay (me) as a kid. I am twirling with fairies in a field of narcissus flowers. My sister is picking said flowers, while my cousin is shouting: “By the power of Grayskull… I have the power!” (We played a lot of He-Man and She-Ra.) Or dog, Lunja (whom we got a few years later, but here he is due to artistic license) is running towards my cousin. In the background our neighbour, Draginja, is watching over her sheep, while even further there is a tiny sketch of our house. All this is taking place on Rastovac - Divčibare, Serbia — Yugoslavia around 1989. Before the war.

Cover concept for Just Dance!, middle-grade, graphic novel about destined dreams and finding hope in despair. The cover features the character Life — goddess, creator of all — who is made of light. Her style is inspired by Ancient Egypt, but she has rainbow hair that changes depending on her mood. Life is holding Ellen (the MC) who is dancing within her arms. Čupko a cute blue monster is leaning over Life’s right shoulder and looking at Ellen. Behind Life’s left shoulder is Cookie, holding his sketcbooks. Cookie is a mixed boy who loves to draw. The characters are framed by Japanese cherry blossoms — representing impermanence and renewal. Main colour scheme pink and aqua.
