Applications will soon be online. Music Nova Scotia will be first, offering access to new investment in a suite

of artist development activities: sound recording, video production, marketing and promotion; touring

and showcasing. “We’re so pleased that the DAWN Fund has partnered with Music Nova Scotia for this

new series of programs to support trans, two-spirit and non-binary artists at a time when it’s needed more

than ever,” says Allegra Swanson, Music Nova Scotia’s Executive Director.

"The Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia is proud to partner with the DAWN Fund in offering dedicated programming for Nova Scotia's trans, two-spirit, and non-binary writers," says WFNS Executive Director Oriana Duinker. "A new sponsored residency at Jampolis Cottage will offer one emerging or established trans writer a quiet and peaceful place to write and support their work with a $2,000 stipend. And a new, free four-week creative writing workshop will help twelve trans writers develop their craft and engage in literary community-building. It is always vital that we offer space and time to trans writers and foster their artistic creation.

Screen Nova Scotia has existing programs in place providing creative opportunities to members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, including The Last Draft script development program, the Screenwriters Internship program, and the Amplified Voices Development program. Eligible participants selected for these programs will be offered the opportunity to apply for additional funding through the DAWN Fund. Programs will launch in Spring/Summer 2025 with more information about the specific streams available online via Screen Nova Scotia's website.
"Screen Nova Scotia looks forward to partnering with the DAWN Fund to amplify opportunities in the screen industry for LGBTQ2SP creators through our existing slate of development programs," said Laura Mackenzie, Executive Director, Screen Nova Scotia.
