love "the joy of boredom" - in a world dominated by productivity and efficiency we need to allow ourselves to dream to be bored

just what I was thinking - but make sure that they understood it was for them - not an extra hour for work for example - hard I know but again it's about seeing the value of time to think #LTHEchat

yes! don't we all 😀 but those spaces and seats are really important

Sheila MacNeill @sheilmcn.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
A5 - is there one? Should be online opportunities, but again depends on how they are designed and supported by staff and students. Value of online spaces needs to be shared with students as early as possible too #LTHEchat

agree Sue, making sure that time on campus is seen as valuable and also that it's not too stressful to fit other things (work, care responsibilities) #LTHEchat

exactly Alison - and as you know place was so important for all the Beyond Blended pilot projects

Sheila MacNeill @sheilmcn.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
A3 - maybe we need to be explaining and sharing the value of being in different places/spaces earlier to students #LTHEchat rather than wait for attendance to drop off

A2 - sometimes, time to really think about where/why they are going #LTHEchat

yes, canteen was where lots of initial conversations took place and also the place to go to discuss, sort "everything" as we all got to know each other

Looking forward to joining colleagues virtually for the launch of The Manifesto for Generative AI in Higher Education – The Book Project next week (24th September). There is still time to register to join the launch online from the link below. tiny.cc/mbp26

Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: Manifesto for Generative AI in Higher Education - The Book Project - Launch Event. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.
Online Launch: The Manifesto for Generative AI in Higher Education – The Book Project Join us online for the launch of The Manifesto for Generative AI in Higher Education – The Book Project on Thursday, 24 September 2026. Building on the original 30-statement Manifesto, the book brings together more than 40 contributors from across higher education to explore, challenge and extend its ideas. Launched by Professor Harriet Dunbar-Morris, the event will bring together contributors and colleagues to reflect on how the Manifesto has developed over the past year and, importantly, to ask: where do we go from here? This will be a short, conversational launch rather than a series of formal presentations, and online participants will be very much part of the conversation.

For every mention of increased "efficiency" and/or "producthttps://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jul/21/not-enough-water-for-uks-datacentre-plans-trade-body-saysivity" in justifications of use of AI there should be a justification of the power & water needed to power data centres.
