SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Castle Market, 30 July 2010 Castle Market closed in 2013 and demolition began in 2015. The indoor market has relocated to The Moor, on the other side of #Sheffield city centre. (In reality, #Sheffield doesn't have a centre).

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Netherthorpe #Sheffield 15.03.17 I don’t know how many dwellings can be found on each of the twelve floors of these Lego like tower blocks. It looks like there should be four flats per floor, but I’m sure that the council wouldn’t have been that generous in allocating space.

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Kelham Island #Sheffield 10.03.08 I have no idea what this sign means. It seems to be forbidding something, but what it’s against, I don’t know. Entry into the otherworld? Consideration of the void?

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Sharrow Cemetery #Sheffield 16.05.04 Twilight... nightfall approaching... no-one around... The stupid star is an empty gesture, and the ridiculous symbols scattered about the outer circle are merely confirmation of the designer’s deep rooted halfwittery.

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Marlborough Road #Sheffield 25.09.04 An act of violence presented as a work of art by someone who has no love for art. It’s fundamentally derivative, a meaningless gesture presented as an act of rebellion. Seen in a van parked outside the former home of Adela Pankhurst.

‘Job Rebuked by His Friends’ links the supposed friends of Job to Satan by virtue of their function... In the landscape beyond the three supposed friends there are three standing stones, identifying those who are concerned with the things of the earth with petrification.

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Lodge Moor Bus Terminus #Sheffield 08.09.12 The pattern formed by countless buses setting off on their journeys reminds me of the rings of Saturn, surrounding the island-planet of grass & wildflowers that has probably reached its greatest height, following the end of summer.

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Manchester Road #Sheffield 20.11.11 West Royd Lodge. This building has always struck me as the headquarters or temple of an occult organisation. I don’t think it’s anything of the sort, but if it’s that much of a secret, you wouldn’t know anyway, would you?

The citadel opened in 1894, and its main hall seated 1,800 people. It underwent major renovations in the late 1950s, but was abandoned in 1999 when the Salvation Army corps moved to new premises on Psalter Lane. The anti-capitalist Occupy Sheffield movement briefly took it over in 2012.

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Acropolis Hair Design, Langsett Road, 9 July 2016 There seem to be a lot of hairdressing salons in the English-speaking world that refer to the Acropolis in their business names. Langsett Road in #Sheffield seems to have little in common with Athens.
