Age is just a number. Until you hit 50 and it becomes an unjust number.

I need to meet this driver. Preferably over corn dogs.

Good evening #santafe (And where do you get giant eggs at this juncture?)

When I’m writing, I don’t always know how a story will end. But like a reader, that’s the fun.

Adding to my woes, here’s a donut I can’t eat. #sponge #donut

So, I guess I will be committing crimes this weekend.

When roadblocks come up, try going around them. In 2020, I had 5 #tv #film scripts. Producers liked them, but for the usual reasons, didn’t buy them. Frustrated, I adapted one to a #graphicnovel , found an illustrator, did a #kickstarter, self-published and had the most fulfillment of my life.

For #booktok folks who kindly followed, welcome! Me: After writing since I was 13, dreaming of selling a script or book, I self-published a middle grade graphic novel in ‘21. That filled me up! Then a publisher took note and hired me. Make what makes you feel good. Mainstream approval is a bonus.

"The owls are not what they seem." R.I.P #davidlynch whose work expanded a teen from tiny #winona #minnesota 's idea of what stories could be: dark, funny, absurd, violent, and gentle all at once. May he enjoy damn good coffee in the beyond. Gordon Cole forever.

#writers using AI for writing is a bit like giving the opposing team your playbook and being surprised when they crush you. We do have a choice in the matter. If it will hurt you, why use it?

A delicious, engrossing twist on exorcist tales. As a writer, I read a lot of comics. “When I Lay My…” is one of the best new comics I’ve read. Full of mystery, spooky occurrences, and even some humor. More please! @boom-studios.com @rportnoy.bsky.social #gusmoreno #jakubrebelka you are cooking!

Look at those colors! One of my fave panels #elijahhenry drew and @wordie.bsky.social colored in our story: @boom-studios.com Hello Darkness. Reviewer said @tayloresposito.bsky.social is his fave letterer and the story worked so well due to him. Truth! Avail in the vol 1 (Mar) as well as issue 4.

Taking a first step seems to always be met with tremendous grace; synchronicities; good fortune. I think this is what we call “beginner’s luck.” And I think it can happen every time. So, whatever we are dreaming of, let’s just begin it. Energy moving brings more energy.

Following your gut is a dive into the unknown. You don't know why you're doing what you're doing, so you jump in and do and understand (maybe) later. Last Jan., my gut said, "Get a typewriter. Write your #hellodarkness story on it." It made no "common sense." It gave my writing juice; joy.

Recent reads. I'm part-way into the #sineadoconnor #book and wow, it's stunning. Next up: finishing @jmdematteis.bsky.social #seekers now that I have the complete series. A gorgeous example of the way comics can explore deep things. Storytellers are a gift. Cherish them.

Pic of my 2024 highlights--taken right before all the needles on my dry tree fell off in unison. Thanks to @boom-studios.com @brycecarlson.bsky.social and my illustration partner Elijah Henry for bringing the stories in my head to the page. What a year. Excited for 2025! #comics #writer
