Every time I think about how we got dinged for steam deck (and now steam machine) it pisses me off. Now we have corporations regulating the fucking font size in our games? Fuck you! We made a design choice and we are not changing it to your "standards". Games are still art right? Right?

Test failed due to poor legibility of onscreen text
due to overlapping or cutoff elements on the tested
hardware's native resolution. It is recommended
that font sizes be 12 pixels or greater in height
when played at 1280x800 for frequently
referenced text. Font sizes above 9 pixels are
acceptable if strong enough contrast is used
between the text and background, or the text is not
regularly looked at. We also highly encourage some
method of font scaling so that users can enjoy your
title at a comfortable viewing distances over an
extended playtime. The Following items were
observed as having poor legibility due to improper
user interface scaling at the tested hardware's
native resolution. Game and camera control tabs.

Thinking of another game got me reading the Wikipedia page for American McGee. Sarah Michelle Gellar owns the rights for an American Mcgee Alice Film?? (Also dude seems interesting. Anyone fired from id for not fitting in with that toxic culture is a win in my book)

McGee soon joined Electronic Arts and worked as creative director on American McGee's Alice (with Rogue Entertainment), which garnered favorable reviews.[11] Discussions began soon after the game's release about making a film adaptation of the game; initially Wes Craven was attached to direct the film,[12] and later actress Sarah Michelle Gellar bought the film rights, but the film has remained in development hell.

Dev here, it's actually a bit complex. The main puzzle is multiple combined static immovable meshes. When pieces are moved they are temporary physics pieces that get merged back in once settled. This fixes that problem and allows 10,000+ unique shaped pieces to be drawn at once with high FPS.

Watched Cloverfield (2008) again and I didn't expect it to hold up so well. Still a great movie to this day. Nice to watch a movie with deep blacks and colors again compared to so many digital dull movies today. No One Will Save You (2023) a recent example of the dull slop pushed out nowadays.

I'll never forget that devs from one of my favorite games ever (Spin Rhythm XD) not only allowed us to include stickers of their game, they actually played OUR game and made this staircase of puzzle pieces leading up to the stickers! One of the coolest things to happen. Thanks @superspin.digital

Here is a wip progress concept (create back in 2011). As usual real life happened and had to be abandoned. Some things like the idea for an in game music player did make it's way over to Jigsaw Puzzle Dreams at least.

Anyone else getting tired of the dullness of modern movies? Recently watched "No One Will Save You" and while I liked the movie the non-contrast of everything really made everything that much duller. Like where are the dark shadows?

One of the biggest (and ongoing) challenges is Jigsaw Puzzle Dreams is that every single piece is a unique shape. Duplicating a mesh (Starfield 100 potatoes) is easy, but creating 1,000/20,000+ custom meshes is not. The math for this jigsaw puzzle game would blow your mind 🤯 #indiegame #cozy

Funny you mention this. I recently decided to replay Splinter Cell and the look of hard shadows is so distinct, something we don't get anymore with more realistic soft shadowing.

Couldn't reply so quote tweeting in case you find this. Pretty sure the extra bits were added and stretched but the base font might be Parallone Bold, or at least that looks like a good starting point. It might be a mix of fonts, Facundo Black is also close and gives you the sharp N.
