@craigcalcaterra.bsky.social I was happy to see "Sarah's Scribbles" make Thursday's Cup of Coffee. As a "comic for barely functioning people, created by barely functioning person" it is directly in my wheelhouse. Sarah also nailed it with her 1/1/25 comic before going on hiatus.
The Sarah's Scribbles comic from 1/1/25. In it, a time traveling Sarah emerges to a dystopian hellscape that she thinks is thousands of years in the future. Instead, she is told that it is 2025.

@themetsnewsletter.com Happy for former Mets Endy Chavez and Johann Santana (pitching coach for the 2026 WBC team and I'm guessing a second time inductee). Can't feel the same for K-Rod.

@ihavethatonvinyl.com What do you think is the best way to buy music from BEOGA that will put the most money directly in their pocket. I checked their website but don't think that they ship to the US and only two albums are available. Thanks!

My son and daughter-in-law swear this outfit our grandson wears has waves on it. I think, however, that @brendonme.bsky.social has started a Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds clothing line for kids.
Blue toddler onesie with rows of white curling waves or maybe Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds.

@themetsnewsletter.com "The Mets are now 0-7 this year when Jose Reyes works the pre and postgame shows..." The Mets propping up Reyes' media feels wrong and they deserve any bad karma related to it. Of course, if you're going to bring Dykstra back for a celebration your standards are low.

@themetsnewsletter.com I'm going to my first Brooklyn Cyclones game tomorrow evening. Any advice on getting the most out of the experience? Ballpark food? Must see places in the area? Should I ride the Cyclone? Do I need bug spray at night? Thanks Roger!

Nothing says "we trust that our players or managers aren't trying to influence the outcome of prop bets" than extending coverage for a bet to their replacement.
Announcement from FanDuel and MLB that you can buy protection against a player you've bet on being replaced during the course of a game.

@tedleo.bsky.social What a show and return to South Kingstown at The Ocean Mist last night! Loved opening with "My Vein Ilin" (Odyssey related?) and closing with "Stove by a Whale". "St. John the Devine", "I'm a Ghost" and "Six Months in a Leaky Boat" were treats. Can't wait to hear more new songs.

It is a very comfortable recliner and is the perfect size for Butter. I may never get to sit in it again.

@themetsnewsletter.com As always, an enjoyable Mets Newsletter. I will disagree about the Mets playing a normal game today. A "normal" 2026 game would be a 4-1 loss where they had a lone infield hit after the third inning and the pitching was just good enough to lose. Give me chaos and dingers!

@themetsnewsletter.com Interesting (and hopeful) comment from Greene about Young's playing time. Part of me feels that Vientos' non-stellar appearances last week at first (base and especially starting him at first after the 2 error game) hastened the decision to move on from Mendoza.

@themetsnewsletter.com I know Williams' outing yesterday looks different if Bo makes a play but man, every appearance feels like an adventure. Yet given the bullpen make up, it doesn't feel like there's a lot to gain by moving Weaver to closer if Williams is still used in leverage situations?

@themetsnewsletter.com Is Minter unavailable today? If so, don't get Warren facing all those lefties. If not, don't know what's going on? He threw 14 pitches on Friday and before that last appeared on Sunday, throwing 13 pitches, so he doesn't seem to be over worked.

@themetsnewsletter.com I think the Mets have gotten themselves into a Golden State Warriors "two timelines" situation. They'd prefer to build the roster internally. OTOH, they aren't ready to do that so try to bring in vets on a specific type of contract that limits the player pool.

TIL (or was reminded--I'm old) that in 1973, Tom Seaver was the first Cy Young award winner to not win 20 games in the season that they won the award.

@rogercormier.bsky.social On Seaver, after the 1970 or 1973 season, I remember reading that "Only the Mets could deny Tom Seaver a 20 win season". I think it was in The Sporting News or Sport magazine. I guess I take some solace in this always being a Mets thing.

Shaun Curry @shauncurry.bsky.social · 22/04/2026
@rogercormier.bsky.social A lot to unpack today but in some ways not really? The offense still stalled out, the starters both don't go long enough and the manager consistently leaves them in a few batters too long, and closers can be fickle at the worst moments.

The 3rd Record Store Day selection is "Breezin'" by George Benson. I bought my first real stereo in 1977 and Masquerade was the song they used in the stereo store to sound out the system. I still miss my Harman Kardon 330C stereo receiver.

The 2nd Record Store Day selection being played today is Oscar Peterson at JATP (Jazz at the Philharmonic). Herb Ellis on guitar and Ray Brown on bass are also featured. This is a 1966 release featuring music recorded in 1953 and 1954 and previously released as part of the JATP series.

I'm going through the albums I bought on Record Store Day on Saturday. First up is "Looking Thru", a 1973 Kraut Jazz record from the band Passport. I like fusion jazz a lot but I may have bought it just for the cover art.
The album cover for the 1973 album "Looking Thru" by the German fusion jazz band Passport. It shows a person with green skin and blonde hair with water in the background. The person
has removed their glasses and you can look thru them to see the water and horizon.

Perhaps the most 1973 album cover ever.

@rogercormier.bsky.social On the Mets not gelling, I recall a Ben Lindbergh piece on the performance of teams with big offseason turnover. The article doesn't address it but it seems logical that the (needed) turnover in the coaching staff may also be a factor. www.theringer.com/2026/01/28/m...

Totally missed that it is 4/20. My younger son had his accepted student overnight visit to Grinnell College on a 4/20, which was either a brilliant way to get kids from the coasts to go to college in central Iowa or the most unaware any college admissions office has ever been. He went to Grinnell.
