No idea how old the film was. No idea what was on that first frame. And, more importantly, no idea whether the camera actually worked. These are the results. Tiny negatives (13mm x 17mm). Grainy. Scratchy in places. A little unpredictable. But it works — and I rather like them.

OK, I know this camera habit is getting a little silly, but there are worse vices… This 1979 Minolta 110 Zoom SLR cost me just £5.37. Sold as untested, it arrived with an unexpected bonus — a roll of film already loaded, with one shot taken.

Playing with a Sony Mavica this evening — now a 25 year old bit of tech. The 10x zoom is genuinely impressive. The image quality is very much of its era — but I’m rather liking the old-school aesthetic. 0.3 megapixel images (640 × 480) saved straight to 3.5-inch floppy disks. #Photography

I occasionally forget but it’s pretty forgiving and the focus distance icons appear in the bottom of the viewfinder as a gentle reminder. There are a couple of lights in the viewfinder too to remind you if you’ve forgotten to wind on, left the lens cap on, etc…
