Spooky season is upon us. I swung by the lake to watch witches launch into the water. On paddle boards.

Our orange cat is obsessed with my son but largely indifferent to me. Fair enough. We shut our bedroom doors at night, but Hajime has been rattling my son's doorknob. This morning I discovered my kid's MacGyver solution: a cardboard box taped over it.

I’ve been missing too many live shows I wanted to see, so I’m fixing that this week. Great show at Cloudland last night. Won free tickets to a show I already wanted to see tomorrow. Saturday is giving me choice paralysis, but I WILL pick one.

A friend reminded me about the Too Good To Go app, so I opened it looking for cheap produce. I may have misunderstood the assignment. I’m picking up a deeply discounted bottle of Japanese whisky later. Not all heroes rescue vegetables.

Birthday celebrations continued with three generations of our family enjoying Coyote vs. Acme. Later, dinner with our chosen family of vegans at a favorite restaurant followed by a cheesecake I made from scratch.

This beautiful boy likes to rotate through his favorite lounge spots. Lately he’s been stretching out on my treadmill when I’m working. Now he’s curling up in this human chair (despite seven cats beds being nearby).

My son is working all 12 days of the MN State Fair. I got to see him in action yesterday, which is when it dawned on me: he was only given ONE work T-shirt. And he’d worn it 7 days in a row without washing it. 😳 Grosssss. That thing went straight into the wash this morning.

I went back into better sleep hygiene mode last night and made sure my phone wasn’t anywhere near my bed, which was good. Unfortunately, Gigi decided 5am was cuddle time, so I never got back to sleep. On the bright side, I received an hour and a half of premium Gigi cuddles.

Mother’s Day is complicated for me, as it is for many. But yesterday was good. Spent the day with my son & my partner: brunch at Dreamstate Cafe, wandering Lakewood Cemetery for Doors Open Minneapolis, soaking up sun on the patio at L2 at Tii Cup, then home to play Quiplash and watch Dust Bunny.

Yesterday marked 37 years since my brother Tom died. For complicated reasons my Dad hadn’t been to the cemetery since the funeral in 1989 (I visit at least twice a year). So I took him. Then we had lunch at Saint Paul Brewing then cocktails across the way at Crowbar.
