I've long been on the side of "physical media is annoying" but I grew up with a PC, where physical media was the compromised product vs. pirate copies. Ownership to me is being able to copy something and run it on what I want, not a DRM-cursed disk/disc in a box.

Sensing a narrative in games media lately that seems to be driven against systemic and experimental game design in favour of linear, prescribed experiences. Literally read someone claiming the GameCube Resident Evil remake was peak game design. It's just prettier Alone in the Dark.

I often see an argument in pro-consumer spaces that we should be able to resell game licenses. I can see the surface-level appeal, that it'd be a return to The Good Ol' Days where we can sell old games on an open market, or to a used games store. This isn't how it'd actually play out, though. 1/4
