Everyone’s out here all celebrating Valentine’s Day and all I can think about is Frederick Douglass’s birthday & the day TR lost his wife and mother.

In July 2023 I had the good fortune to attend the inaugural Civics for All of US at the National Archives. Dr. Colleen Shogan, Archivist of the US, welcomed our group & shared her love for documenting/preserving our history. I am profoundly disappointed to hear she was dismissed Friday night.

Finishing up finals for the college course I teach and 1 of my favorite comments by a student was that they noticed how important it was to build a PLN both at work and w/ those outside of your bldg/district. Grateful for all of those who in my network who’ve really become friends.

Today’s OnTuesdayWeVote had my students looking a variety of questions- each related to content/topics we’ve been discussing in our classes. The great thing about #OTWV is that you can personalize the questions every other week. This helps students practice the democratic habit of voting.

A perfect way to end school today! The classroom was electric as my students entered the early stages of our work on Civic Power Hour. Our first panel is on zoning.. & once they learned what it is- they had so many thoughts abt how zoning impacts our town! Can’t wait to launch our 1st event!
