6. Minish Cap - 9/10 So far my favorite of the 2d games! I've only played this, LttP, and Four Swords, but still! This felt like it had so much exploration in it, especially more than LttP!

I got the catboy into playing guild wars 2 a whole back, and dragonbash back in June and he's been playing semi-consistently since. To say the least I'm happy to see he's enjoying it and wanting to keep going at the story :3c

Oh yeah I can post here uhh, I watched the Zelda direct, I think remade castle town looks awesome... I wanna do prop hunt there... I also really like a lot of the other environments and ui design! I like how every slot makes me wanna shove something there and fill it out with stuff :3

Playing minish cap has made me really understand and vibe with just being a tiny little guy... Like I get micro now... But at the same time it's got me thinking of using one big paw to pin down something so tiny and smothering them... Maybe these should stay thoughts and not be posted but oh well!

(I also backed this game like, 4 or 5 years ago, and had put off playing it for a few months for... no good reason, honestly)

Fantastic game, I will be playing even more and more for achievements and completion. If you can handle some difficulty and friction, especially early on, please pick this game up, I would dare say it's a necessity.

I could keep going about this game, it's story is simple but in the most wonderful way, the sound design is so satisfying, the save select screen showing *everything* you had and slowly filling out, I just want to keep gushing on and on.

There's so many secrets to this game, so many little areas, so many different ways to play, there's just so much. This game almost feels like it's asking you to play it again. like what the hell do you mean I played for 8 hours and I am *just now* learning of another collectable I'm missing out on??

shardsies.bsky.social @shardsies.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
The game doesn't teach you much, it expects you to experiment and learn. I struggled to find my way to a specific location before realizing like, after 8 more hours of gameplay had passed (a few days in real time) and had done almost everything else. That was a fantastic feeling of discovery.

The music is phenomenal, every single one great for their own reason. Every single boss was amazing to fight, even if I do think I went to an area earlier than intended and made the rest of the game harder on myself, favorite boss easily has to be the final or penultimate fight.

shardsies.bsky.social @shardsies.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
I did not 100% the game, and I rushed through the final area because it was getting late and I realllly wanted to beat it, but man, this is almost what I was expecting from Link to the Past, but like, a whole lot more than I expected.

Holy fuckkkk this game, this game was fantastic the whole way through. I had complained about the difficulty early on, but I think it front loads that a bit mainly with how it controls, since it does play quite a bit like a 2d zelda game. It also sets a great precedent for the feel of the game.

I can see myself coming back to this, though not sure if it'd be 100% as I did this time (on accident, again). I think I would certainly wanna give this game a go on randomizer or archipelago, that'd be great :p

The bosses were okay, half were fun, the other half are kindaaa alright, screw mothula in particular. Dungeons were all pretty great, not sure if I have a favorite of those! The music was pretty good, I just wish there was more... thankfully I have other Zelda games to play for that :3c

shardsies.bsky.social @shardsies.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
That could also be due to how much smaller the world is in comparison, and the other two games having (in my opinion) better fast travel options with more locations, but I see both have positives and negatives. Link to the Past definitely seems to utilize your items more, and that's great.

shardsies.bsky.social @shardsies.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
I give huge points to LttP because of that, and I want to say it's due to how it utilizes the upgrades you get. While the 3d games focus on their use for side quests and dungeon mechanics, LttP focuses a lot more on their explorative uses, unlocking what felt like more ways to get around.

I probably used bottles more in this game than I had in OoT and MM combined, part due to fairies not full healing, and part due to magic usage in this game compared to the others. Traversing the overworld was very fun, drastically more so in this than OoT or MM I would say.

shardsies.bsky.social @shardsies.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
I really appreciate how open the game feels, despite it actually being quite linear. There's nowhere near the same amount of side quests in this game as there are in OoT or MM, but they still feel rewarding, especially the bottles. Bottles in this game are a grace themselves.

Link to the Past is a wonderful game, self-inflicted let down aside. You can clearly tell this game set the foundation for all future Zelda games (switch games not included), and while they try to set their footing, I think they land it pretty well.

Coming off the heels of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, I decided to go back to another beloved Zelda game. I had unreasonably high expectations that had, expectedly, let me down. It's not something I can fault the game for, since I had played the more recent entries before this.

Looking forward to playing the other campaign another time! I doubt this is the end of me playing through the Resident Evil franchise, and I don't want it to be. There's loads to it and, while I have watched the more recent games (7 and beyond), I have so little understanding of the games prior! :p

shardsies.bsky.social @shardsies.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
The bosses were basic but fun, I enjoyed the few timed segments there were, making you rush around areas you've been through with a slight panic. The music doesn't have much to it, but the safe room theme will always remain iconic and genuinely fantastic.

shardsies.bsky.social @shardsies.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
The story is a little basic, but finding the story through notes around the place was a great way to do it, easily allowing the player to engross themselves or not (though, some mandatory for puzzles the first time), and it was a nice way to actually learn the story of the games for the first time.

shardsies.bsky.social @shardsies.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
The game itself feels a lot better than I had expected, given tank controls and a lot less freedom when it comes to aiming. That said, hitting headshots with the shotgun felt like the most satisfying reward for taking a risk I could hope for.

The puzzles in this game felt fine and fun, nothing left me particularly too stumped, save for the dining hall emblem, as I had quickly made not of it, then promptly moved on with my business and didn't go back to it and couldn't remember what to do for 30 minutes ;v

My first steps into the Resident Evil games and horror genre both! I had a vague understanding of the game, very minor story beats and gameplay such as tank controls, but I had a tiny bit told to me by my company who was with me as I played! Namely, shotgun headshots and a room I would have skipped.

5. Mina the Hollower 9.5/10 OR 10/10 (I can't decide yet still) This might be my game of the year so far. The difficulty is a bit front loaded, but with time and the game truly becomes phenomenal. I can safely say I will be sinking more time into this game to 100% and much more, fantastic game.
