Watching The Big Bang Theory again and had to stop. While the show has many funny moments, it relies on a lot of stereotypes and outrageously racist material to sound funny. I have enjoyed the show at multiple points but watching it again has helped me “see” things I wouldn’t have before.

Mercury Weather and Hello Weather are cute but not as striking looking. Acme Weather (a new entrant) looks like Claude but they have their Dark Sky legacy going for them.

Weather apps iOS used to be a design playground. Many third party apps were better than Apple’s weather app. This year is the first time I am feeling like Apple has the best general purpose weather app. None of the others have the balance of form and function.

A nice use of AI chatbots - Extracting ingredients from a recipe webpage. Just share the URL and ask the AI to list the ingredients mentioned in the recipe. Makes it easy to get a shopping list.

This makes me question if tech will no longer be the lucrative career choice it once was. Maybe it is too early to say so. As much as tech cos. have vested interest in AI succeeding, they also stand to gain from more software engineers on the market in the long term.

This is a mindfulness app. And this popup appeared when I opened the app. Not only is it distracting, it is also aesthetically unappealing. This is the state of UI design in 2025. There has never been a bigger need for good UI designers and product managers in tech.

The iPad Pro wouldn’t get as much flak from tech media if Apple did not give it a keyboard and a trackpad. It is a big promise with only half the execution on the hardware side. The software barely pretends like the keyboard and trackpad exists.

Just finished Adolescence on Netflix. It is an incredibly well made series that broke my heart and almost brought me to tears. It caught me by surprise, as the show is not so much about the crime itself but the psychological distress faced by everyone involved. Incredible.

One thing I like about the old logo is the slope that forms at the top of the stems of ‘t’ and ‘b’. The slope is charming and playful. Wish they hadn’t lost that in the redesign.

I rediscovered Abduzeedo.com after a long time today. This was one of the few websites back in 2011 that inspired me to get into design through its inspiration pieces and tutorials. Love that it is still around, with new content posted regularly!
