A woman could not have written Game of Thrones. I don't mean she wouldn't have been capable. I mean a woman writing about that much rape and incest wouldn't have been this globally revered as "realistic" and "dark" and would've instead been called a sexual deviant and her books fringe at best

(Spoilers) Is anyone else a bit uncomfortable with the history given to the Air Nomads? The idea of them being past keepers of peace feels like it goes against the idea of the nations being equal and balanced Then having one of the oppressed 3 nations being oppressors in the past, idk #Aang #ATLA

A #Tiana live-action is both exciting & worrying. For too long, the 1st Black Disney princess* has been promised & denied a sequel. Will this come to fruition? But also, what impact is this film aiming for? Will Tiana receive a narrative focused on magic & whimsy? Or struggle & "reality"? #blacksky

HUNGER GAMES Characters who Deserve More Conversations: Are depictions of Black #HungerGames characters getting worse? From Thresh, Commander Paylor, Cinna & Rue ❤️ -> Dill, Reaper & Dr. Gaul? 🧐 The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes actors did amazing but the script raises a brow #booksky #blackbooksky

Black Hunger Games Characters (who we NEED to Talk About):

Commander Paylor = A just, kind leader

Cato = Strong, loyal, moral

Cinna = Woke, brave, gentle

Dill = Suffering, silenced, miserable, background

Reaper = Violent, hateful, "dangerous"

Dr. Gaul = Part of the problem, "grotesque," stereotypical

Dystopia has a kind of weird function in the world now. I know a lot of folks are bingeing romance and cozy (or cozy romance!) as a buffer against the world and I get it. I'm finding myself drawn to dystopia instead, because we need stories of hope against adversity too now, more than ever. #booksky

The fact that Zoe Saldaña believes Neytiri is racist speaks to the depth of just how little the franchise understands marginalization A person (from an ethnic group) experiencing genocide can exhibit wariness towards a colonizer and those connected to them. This is the nuance of trauma #avatar
