This summer in a nutshell. The heat and humidity has been murder and had to trim my thick hair multiple times so I wouldn't keel over

Yeah, it's been a problem for a lot of people today

I actually attended my very first con with Anthrocon this month. As someone also in their mid 30s, going filled me with so much energy. I have got to do this again.

Aw yeah, this place was awesome. Definitely one I wanna go back to next time.

ShamanEffect @shamaneffect.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

This Anthrocon was my very first convention and it was absolutely great. I can't believe I got to finally go to it after all this time. I got to meet so many great folks out there. I can't remember the last time I felt this energized or smiled this much. I have got to do this again.

There's a group I play rpgs with. On top of the dnd games we play, for the past year, we've also been learning Vampire the Masquerade. It has been really fun to learn. It's a very fun system and setting to play. I even wrote character stories for the game between sessions. Definitely a highlight

I would have tried, but steam said no. "Oh, your computer is missing or disabled either Secure Boot or TPM 2.0" My specs would have been just fine otherwise, but they said no. Oh well

My favorite Razer failure was the expensive keyboard where several keys started failing after two months. Second that happened, I went "Nope. Not doing this again." The much cheaper logitech keyboard I got after that has held up well ever since.

I want to thank everyone for continuing to post art and stuff during rough times. It really does comfort me on those days. Last week, several things kinda piled on and I wasn't in the best head space. It really did help. Thank you, everyone

ShamanEffect @shamaneffect.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

Man, I wish I was better at planning out events. So many friends and cool people were at the con, but I couldn't figure out how to get there myself because of the ride situation. I've heard a lot of good things. Maybe I can figure things out for next time

000

ShamanEffect @shamaneffect.bsky.social · 10/06/2025

Lmao, my trackers dying during the first show, so I'm just awkwardly hunched over. I was still very happy to be there with all of you

010

ShamanEffect @shamaneffect.bsky.social · 09/06/2025

It was so nice to watch it with so many cool people. Not even my trackers dying (after playing for 5 or 6 hours straight, to be fair) could stop me from enjoying it. I'm still glad I could be there

Oh it's autism acceptance month! And this is the first month I am not posting about it on X because last year I was harassed by people on the far right for "glamourising autism." There is increasing hostility towards the autistic community and we need allistics to stand by us more than ever.

A drawing of a dragon that is designed to resemble the autism infinity symbol. The dragon has a serpentine body like that of a Chinese dragon, has rainbow-coloured scales and mane and is on a black background.

I may not care too much about the Game Awards, but a new Okami AND a new Onimusha announcement made me feel a very special way. Seeing Hideki Kamiya with the Clover shirt alone made me smile

This place is much more chill for me. Not having to deal with the same nonsense as the other place feels so nice.

ShamanEffect @shamaneffect.bsky.social · 11/10/2024

I'm glad you brought this up. I used to only get hit with sensory overload every now and then, but I found that I've been getting hit with it more often in recent years. I thought it was just a me problem at first, but I'm more glad people are coming forward about their experiences.

I love finding obscure games. I didn't find much info. Dreamcats lifespan was too short. I think its some kind of werewolf fighting game? Yep, having worked retail, the bell at the counter would make me irrationally upset. Ringing once is just fine, any more though and it's open hostility

I never worry about or even look at meta builds in Fromsoftware games. Usually, especially on the first run, I just try to discover things, see what I like and go from there. That's part of the fun

One that comes to mind is a DS one that I played a lot of called The Dark Spire. It can absolute be tough, but very open ended. It felt very rewarding once I started figuring things out. I remember really liking the music in it too.

I was using the Lunar New Years events this past month to get caught up on games from last year. I didn't get bored, we were just eating good in terms of game releases. I took part in Party Animals' Shen Loong event and unlocked all of the skins for Lotus the Dragon. I'm glad I got back into this

Shen Loong from Party Animals Lunar New Year event. This was the last skin reward for completing the free mini event pass that was going on at the time for Lotus the Dragon

Playing games from my childhood again. Installing Thief Gold with fan patches to make it play nice on my modern rig. After booting it up again, it feels good to be back. The og Thief games were so cool.

Heavily considering a good keyboard upgrade. Do people prefer mechanical or optical switches? The one I currently have is mechanical with clicky switches. Too clicky, picks up way too much on my mic. Looking for a much quieter option.

So far, the move here has been pretty nice. Past three days, I've been slowly finding all of the good peeps that found their way here and in general, the news on my feed has been way less stressful here. This fresh start feels pretty good
