My first Gamescom 🎮🚂 Huge thanks to Parker Wallace at @getwigi.com for the Scholarship! I was in Cologne with @secondquest.games 🚂 telling everyone “we got trains” and watching their faces light up. Got stung by a bee. 🐝 Survived. Rode WAY too many trains. 🚆 #WomenInGames #ModelTrains #Gamescom2026

The holodeck wasn't science fiction. It was a roadmap. Gene Roddenberry imagined a room where you walk in and become the author of your own story. The technology was fiction. The idea underneath it wasn't. I've been chasing that idea my whole career. I finally wrote about it.

This is a neat project... it might seem a little odd to make a simulation of model trains when model trains are a simulation of trains, but it makes a lot of sense. Not everyone in the world can have a real layout so this way more people can enjoy parts of the hobby you don't get with train sims.

The IKEA Effect explains why I left a media career to build games. We value things more when we've built them ourselves. If games can hand a billion players a creative hammer — that's not just a product. That's ownership. Here's my take on what led me @secondquest.games.

Why We "Love" What We "Build" — and What That Means for the Future of Gaming

From NDTV's "eyeballs" to the IKEA Effect: how 18 years in media taught me that people don't just want to consume stories. They want to build them.
