One of my biggest peeves lately is too many app icons looking too similar (especially colors) that I easily confuse them and tap the wrong one.

So I just realized Aiko Sugihara is the first ever non-Chinese to win WAG AA at Asian Games! Wow!

If Caio Souza has a bicep injury 🫥 Well, at least this isn’t the most important Worlds for Brazil, but I’m still concerned.

I’ve read so many posts and articles about the chaos of accommodations at Asian Games. Basically every delegation and sport affected in some way. We are off to a rough start. 😬

Locally this summer, I've been seeing more spotted lanternflies than ever 😵‍💫

Truly the end of GAGE as we know it.

Today I found out I can still do a glide kip, which impresses me more than a standing back tuck or the splits at this point in my life many years retired.

I'm a fan of Kevin Penev, but I must say he has some incredible luck when it comes to qualifying to Worlds/Olympics that unfortunately never rubbed off on Eddie 😭

I admit sometimes it’s still weird to see the HUN MAG in anything other than maroon+white that they wore for so many years. Often I don't recognize them since green/white/red are such common national colors 😂

It's still so strange to see KJ Kindler on the floor as an elite coach.

I think Simone’s GOAT was the best thing to happen for Shane to overcome the disappointment of Olympic Trials. I remember in early 2024 he considered retiring regardless of the Olympics. But the tour restored his joy in the sport and motivated him to return from his injury.

Brazil, why the struggles on PB of all events? A lot of teams are weak on PH and SR, so I can sort of understand that, but no reason to be just as bad on PB as well when it’s one of the higher scoring apparatuses.

It's very impressive Leykin didn't let the disastrous FX today define the rest of his competition when he's been overall spectacular.

Yul and Nathan Roman are definitely MVPs for OU at these championships.

No better time than now for Nedoroscik to show them how this dancing thing is done.

Shane is pretty respectable on rings, especially after the shoulder surgery and rehab.

I feel a bit for Taylor Burkhart because he's been on the cusp of teams for years but either falls a little short or isn't quite the best fit for different team scenarios.

Well, that PH said a lot about Danya overcoming the flop FX routine.

Shane is on a mission. Looking so focused and determined like Olympic trials.

At least there are multiple competitors doing two vaults. I remember for YEARS Alicia Sacramone was the National Champion by default because she was the only one with two vaults. 😭

Caio Souza with the only 13+ score on both SR and PB 🥴

gimnasia a la plancha @shadypines.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

I think Charlie Larson has done amazing for being in MAG only a handful of years. Having said that, I wish he could settle into a FX routine he can do consistently well. I love his tumbling variety and repertoire, but he seems to compete very different routines every time he steps out.

gimnasia a la plancha @shadypines.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

I have no issue with the D bonus system in principle, but some of the numbers just look so weird and out of place.

010

gimnasia a la plancha @shadypines.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

Nedoroscik did amazing considering he sounded very unsure of himself in all the interviews before the competition.

040

gimnasia a la plancha @shadypines.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

I have a soft spot for Yul and Shane, so I want the best for them today and the whole championships. I’m also excited to see Charlie Larson, Jun Iwai and Cooper Kim. And I must admit Frederick has looked a lot more dialed in so far this year.

020

gimnasia a la plancha @shadypines.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

There’s nothing I hate more about a lot of gymnastics media than watching interviews without knowing the questions and having to guess what they are based on the answers.

gimnasia a la plancha @shadypines.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

I'm very impressed with Jorge Vega's consistency on FX this year. He's been hot or cold throughout his career. Unfortunately, he wasn't at any of the World Cups, so he's not qualified to Worlds. But at least he's won big at the competitions that mattered most to him.

gimnasia a la plancha @shadypines.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

This kind of blows my mind. If Yul and/or Donnell are on the LA28 team, they’ll be 32/34. John Roethlisberger, Blaine Wilson and Sam Mikulak were 30/30/28 at their last games. Kurt Thomas and Blaine Wilson made brief comebacks in 1992 and 2008 that weren’t successful.

Hm, looking at the roster for Central American & Caribbean Games, Colombia isn’t sending any WAG at all 🫤 Also, no Yesenia Ferrera for DOM, but I don’t think her nationality change has been officially approved.

It’s been a while, but I feel Vlasios Maras is overdue to make a spontaneous comeback and still do HB at a championship.
