"Unknown device detected." Batman leaned over the computer in the batcave, scrutinizing the screen. He opened the door of the vehicle and out fell a small, coin-sized device. A tracker. Someone had managed to place a tracker in the vehicle. He immediately took it to the batcomputer and placed it

A great deal on his mind while he drives the batmobile out into the city for patrol.

000

Batman. @shadowysavior.sunder.my · 24/04/2026

"This is how we start to trust each other." He nodded, then abruptly left, heading for the exit and opening the door, then stepping out into the smoggy Gotham air. The door closed behind him, and he walked to the batmobile, clambering in and taking off down the road.

"You've been running this bakery for a while." A statement of this obvious. And something to say to fill the silence while he made a decision. "Consider this your only warning; If something comes out of those portals that threatens Gotham, I'm shutting you down. If you need me," he raised his hand,

Batman. @shadowysavior.sunder.my · 24/04/2026

"The only reason I'm not taking you to jail is because I don't think a cell exists that would hold you." He folded his arms over his chest, the yellow bat symbol clearly visible over his gauntlets. "Have you killed anyone recently?"

do that, and trust you, if you aren't forthcoming with what you've done in the past. If you want me to trust you, that's the first step to that happening." He didn't trust her. He didn't trust easily, and this was the smallest step possible to establishing some kind of goodwill between them.

A silence filled the air between them. He considered her words, then finally spoke when he knew it was getting awkward. "In early 2018 there was a record number of deaths amongst the False Facers and a new human trafficking ring that had moved into the city. I was puzzled by their deaths; savage,

underneath his cloak, a strong distaste for her little display thinning his lips. "How can I trust that you'll never lose control? That these portals won't let in something while we're already fighting something that takes up all of our attention?" A heartbeat later. "Did you kill Artem Arieli?"

Batman. @shadowysavior.sunder.my · 24/04/2026

"This isn't your city to protect." His jaw clenched when he was moved; just as he suspected, her abilities were slower than that of the Speed Force. She could only move as fast as light, which made sense for a shadow manipulator. Still fast. Just not as fast as he'd feared. He clenched his fists

Batman. @shadowysavior.sunder.my · 24/04/2026

If there was one thing he didn't enjoy, it was being moved without his express permission.

Batman. @shadowysavior.sunder.my · 24/04/2026

The threats we face here could be magnified tenfold with these portals. Can you guarantee that an expansion force from one of those worlds—or locations, wherever they lead—won't march through and stake their claim on Gotham?" His tone was stern, borderline harsh.

patrons from those other worlds don't look human. They'd terrify people if they saw and weren't expecting them. I understand you have powers. Those powers may be great, or small, but you have a responsibility to the others that live in Gotham not to put them in more danger than they're already in.

"I came to give you a warning, and to meet you myself. There are a number of confusing incidents in your GCPD file, Ms. Sinclair. I thought you could shed some light on the matter." Or withdraw the shadows, as it might be in her case. He walked over to the menus and picked one up, examining it and

His notes did *not* include that she was pregnant. Or that her eyes were distinctly non-human. Black sclera, teal, almost glowing, irises. He noted her garb, height, and demeanor. "I don't usually make house calls." He stated, noting then the wet footprints behind her. "I'll cut to the chase.
