" What do you think we're doing? We live in an isolated tree house, so we don't have to worry about the judgemental gaze. We didn't even do anything wrong. "

" Then those Hylians are just... cruel. They never give people second chances. Just because I don't live up to their standards doesn't mean I am still a 'monster.' Hylians are just stuck up and think they are higher than thou. "

" You speak funny words, bard. We don't have to look like the hero. We just do as we don't know who we are yet. We just...don't feel right looking like this. We have tried, but I'm afraid we're not ready yet. "

It needs to stop being so scared of everything. Rubbing its left arm.

" I don't know... I don't think I am what people think I am. " Its arms were sore. The gauntlets tend to be pretty heavy for it. Rubbing the ashy gray "skin."

" Mimicking...? I do not mimic... " Unclipping the straps of its gauntlets to slide the arm wear off. It had a confused expression on its face.

It glanced over to the side. Sniffling to itself. It doesn't know how it learned such a skill. " Don't... know? "

It continued staring at him, looking absolutely scared. Who wouldn't be after getting threatened by another shade. Fidgeting with the gauntlets.

Shakily finishing the painting and setting it aside. Scooting towards the shadows of the house.

It's just very scared of the other shade. Hesitantly grabbing the ashy gray paint for itself.

" That's the point.... " It is painting itself and the hero it fought back in the Water Temple. Giving off the bombastic side eye.

Another sniffle. Glancing over for a smidge before freaking out. Dabbing spots of green paint on the canvas.

Sniffling. All it wanted was a friend, but it's just a shade. Others think it's a horrible being.

In its isolation, it has been painting itself and the Hero. Sniffling to itself. It can't expel tears, but it can feel sadness.

Shoving away the chest from the tree house. Doubt is still consuming it.
