I think it’s labours push for the Māori seats. This paired with how hard Willy Jackson has been coming for TPM. I don’t think it’s a coincidence Willy is leading the charge and is the one in charge of the campaign for the Māori seats. Shanan has also been involved in the fight for Māori seats.

NZ’s economy wasn’t in recession before the election. In the past 6 months the economy has dropped faster than any time since 1991 (excluding COVID). This is what the politics of austerity does. Nicola Willis and Christopher Luxon are clearly making things worse not better!

I’m not sure what NZGAs position was on the matter, but according to the articles he ultimately has the last decision. He said he had taken into account many viewpoints before making his choice. I personally think the right choice is the one supported by iwi and Hutt council.

Close up of some of the damage. All those lighter marks are where the Taonga has been damaged, yesterday it was smooth. It’s believed to be done by a sharp metal instrument, likely a spade or crowbar etc. Mauao will be closed after tomorrow, likely until this is resolved.

The comments were mostly people mad, thinking it was a breach of democracy to put Māori in those positions without being elected but standing committees have been around for years and no members have never been voted on.

I can try fish around for some links but basically, this post is trying to incite anger towards Tauranga city council for appointing 3 Māori standing committee members without electing them. What this article fails to point out is all standing committee members are unelected, Māori or non Māori.
