Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Yes. We’re aware. Late to the game warnings aren’t particularly helpful. 060
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 10/10/2026No. But I like the cut of your jib and I am inspired by your movement. 💥🔥💥 000
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 09/10/2026It’s a fair point. But if you’re averse to doing it purely for story hook reasons, (at lower levels) you could tinker with the game mechanics. Death caused by exhaustion or failed saving throws that don’t necessarily involve HP loss. So perhaps Greater Restoration is what would be required?static.klipy.comAlive DeadALT: Alive Dead 010

Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Visiting a café in Europe felt revitalizing. You could often sit outdoors, because cities are built to be lived in. Europe still has third-spaces. Here it’s a purely consumer experience. There’s a frantic energy, and I feel you miss savoring the moment of a cup that is well made. 010
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I had lived in Frankfurt for a number of years, and I really miss European coffee culture (vs the U.S. drive through experience). 100
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 22/09/2026My Teenagers From Outer Space adventure for the D&D Meet Up seemed to be well received. Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 21/09/2026That’s pretty fantastic. 99% of the diving I’ve done has been in New England, and I only ever got to the Caribbean once. 000
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Thaty fair. When you want to find a regular group, it can be like joining an intramural sports league. Insofar as everybody made a plans to play. So frequently canceling can ruin it for everyone else. the session. Just be ready to set aside the agreed time if you join a group. Good luck! 💕 000
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 21/09/2026FYI, I’m an old Gen-X dude? I don’t mean that is a weird way, just that I find people enjoy playing within their own generation. Second, we are several time-zones apart. But I can get you going with a character and a short adventure. I know some LA peeps, so I could help you find a local group. 110
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 21/09/2026No matter what you decide, the best way to learn is by playing. I’d caution that the rules are easier to understand once you have some experience with them. So often finding people who are playing is a good way to start. Note, individual experiences may vary. 110
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I love a Starter Set and am a huge proponent for them. Cut straight to the core mechanics and get your feet under yourself first. That’s always a pro-tip. 010
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Right, I don’t mean to say these systems are like taking calculus. Just that there are “softer” entries that provide the same general look and feel. 110
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I think a lot of American have now found they’re poorer with worsening prospects. So I think a lot of folks are scared, and trying to hold onto what they have, while dealing with affordability. But society is a complex system, and folks I interact want quick simple solutions. 000
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 21/09/2026D&D isn’t the simplest game to learn, but it is the most populous by a huge margin. So it easier to find people to play with. For that same D&D vibe I’m a fan of Shadowdark for simpler but similar game rules. But there as systems for whatever genera you’re into; horror, Sci-Fi; steam-punk etc. 120
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 20/09/2026The event is a semi-regular Meetup Group for TTRPGs. I try to showcase something different each event so people get to see the field is far broader than just Dungeons & Dragons. 110
Sean @sfscanlon.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Unfortunately I think partisanship is what determines votes these days. I believe the important objective is to win back a branch of government that can limit the President’s authoritarianism. aside from that, the principle issue always is the economy; affordability to be more specific. 100
