i borrowed You Should Have Left by Daniel Kehlmann from my library and read it yesterday and i really, really, really enjoyed it. A house that defies its dimension(s) in increasingly upsetting ways. It's the story i always wanted House of Leaves to be. Deeply unsettling and ambiguous. i loved it ♥︎

i made my post to talk about how i am anti ai and anti-fascism. Supporting art is a separate topic and not one that i was highlighting in my critique. This is apples and oranges and i'm not interested in splitting hairs any further, but good luck to you and all the best.

010

sfé r. monster @sfemonster.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

i don't know why you're trying to play 4d chess to defend this. i already agree that artists should be paid fairly and compensated for their work, but i also don't believe we should interpret fascism as inspiration when we're looking for examples to support that belief.

110

sfé r. monster @sfemonster.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

1) don't misgender me 2) the sentiment of "old was better and current is bad" goes hand in hand with "the decline of art, architecture, and craftsmanship is due to the decline of white superiority." misunderstanding and dismissing this as harmless allows fascist thoughts to take root inside of you.

it is also deeply repellent when AI is reposted/shared and defended by those who claim to take a moral stance against it, with some version of "AI is bad, but you have to agree that the image a hateful person had it generate makes a valid point."

0393

sfé r. monster @sfemonster.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

i do agree about fairly paying and compensating artists, but that was not the original aim of the image and we foster dangerous sentiments when we misunderstand and proliferate them like this.

sfé r. monster @sfemonster.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

This post is going around bluesky right now. it is both an AI image, and a "return to traditional values" fascist dog-whistle post. Collectively, we need to be careful about falling for these kind of things and misunderstanding their aim.

Elson keeps messaging me things like "you know i love you" and "i hate that things have to change" and it's all so dire and i can't do anything about it because there's a new Zelda announcement tomorrow and i'm going to lose my friend forever.

hi! Sorry, i don't keep myself online/logged into social media (for the sake of my fragile brain) and only look at bluesky once or twice a week. For the moment i'm only following people i personally know, but i appreciate you asking!

Have been in the grips of Naruto nostalgia lately (to the chagrin of everyone who knows me) so i've been listening to the long versions of my favourite intros, and it's incredible how good some Japanese album art is.

The last day of my Skin Deep guest week! i was unclear about this one, but the answer was: Anthony and Blanche are hipsters (historical term that means "annoying"), and their band name is a lyric from an Arcade Fire album they got into before anyone else.

People have wondered if Anthony and Blanche are able to breathe without talking. The jury is still out.

0180

sfé r. monster @sfemonster.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

he has one (1) friend and that friend has little prancy deer hooves designed to protect him from the icky ground. Anthony says "it's gross walking around barefoot" and Blanche is just like "oh! yah, i just don't step on the bad stuff :)"
