At the same Fringe he did a run of poetry shows with completely different works at each performance. Afterwards I bought a copy of his collected works off him and had a brief chat. Very nice bloke.

And an astonishing musician. His Edinburgh Fringe show about ancient musical instruments - every single one of which he skilfully demonstrated - is one of the most entertaining things I've ever seen at the festival. One was "bagpipes without the bag - basically castrated bagpipes."

Yes I do agree that it's one of a number of issues faced by gens Z, α and β - possibly *the* main issue they'll face - that have been kindly left them by their elders. Now in my 60s I have the odd moment I wish I was younger. But mainly I'm glad I'm not. I feel for GenYs/Millennials & younger.

I'm not fully disagreeing with you or the tone of this thread but am always a bit wary of focus on young people when many are switched-on about this stuff, while yes of course many are also susceptible in the way you said, but so are older generations.

That aspect affects people of all ages. Plus, universities I work with are finding that students are arriving with a critical mindset about AI, which courses are working with by structuring GenAI into assessments by having students analyse & critique them as part of process, not as final submission.

Two episodes in to #TwoWeeksInAugust and teetering on the brink of abandoning it. I always like Jessica Raine. But so far I don't really like any of the characters and feel completely disconnected from them. And that stupid plinky-plonky music is irritating me. It's worse than Sheila's LP.

If remembering Thornbirds is cause for throat-clearing then (excuse me) - *clears throat*. I do recall the brouhaha around it but couldn't have watched it as I don't remember any detail beyond the basic premise. That was an age of Saturday night ITV primetime drama.

I staggered through to the end of ep2 and it hadn't improved, in fact it got worse, so I've left it there. We got the addition of a practically AI-generated unsympathetic bishop, a criminal waste of Jason Watkins in line with the general principle of giving some great actors poor material.

Yes that was well done. The show has the bones of potentially good drama, but it's not serving a good cause here.

Her Denton in LoD is a TV landmark, no exaggeration. Plus she gave me a lovely smile and 'thank you' when I stood aside to let her and her kids go past one morning in Strawberry Hill.

I expected to see lots of gushing praise about #Falling and indeed there is, so it's a relief to see I'm not alone in finding it rather daft and poorly executed. In particular Anna's sudden defection is completely unconvincing. The great KH given some terrible material to work with.
