Yesterday evening, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake led a swarm of quakes off the Oregon coast or roughly 165 miles northwest of Eureka, California. While a tsunami is not and wasn't expected, it's a significant event for the region.

A earthquake swarm is rattling Idaho, with multiple quakes up to magnitude 3.9 reported near Spencer over the past 48-72 hours. These are small earthquakes; but there has been a swarm of them. While, most people won't notice it, but people near the epicenters probably did. Did you feel them?

While, it's small -- a 3.3 magnitude earthquake occurred near Stockton, Kansas tonight. It's relatively rare, but it does happen. Most won't feel it, but some people may. Did you feel it?

Firefighter/first responders are heroes for trying to keep the public safe. Firefighters do an AMAZING job containing wildfires. Can't thank them enough. Let's hope the firefighters contain the fire enough to save the ancient McKinley sequoia grove in California before the fire reaches there.

Looks like there may have been a rare Nevada tornado near Lone Mountain (very close to Las Vegas) on Friday night! It's possible that breeze interactions + a decent amount of vorticity may have caused this possible extremely rare tornado/landspout. #NVWX

California has been hit at least 10,000 lightning strikes today alone causing dozens of wildfires to flare up across the state. It’s going to get smoky across California and perhaps Nevada, Oregon and Arizona. This is the most lightning strikes in the state of California in one day since 2020.

Did you know this? On this day (8-31) in 1886: A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck near Charleston, South Carolina and was felt across a large section of the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic. It remains one of the most powerful & damaging earthquakes on the East Coast of the United States in history.

A series of earthquakes occurred in northern Nevada today with the biggest earthquake a 4.8 (downgraded from 5.3). Reports of shaking felt as far away as Boise, Idaho.

In case you missed it -- A large, Earth-directed (halo) CME is on its way! A G3-G4 Geomagnetic Storm is possible around Labor Day, which could mean AURORAS could visible in lower latitudes! This depends on strength, timing, and the weather, smoke on our planet etc. Let's hope for some auroras!
