Actually, it’s more shocking - Biden prioritized his ego over defending Americans, then totally collapsed when forced to debate the former president. This is like saying that a blown tire on a racecar doesn’t look so bad as the other guy runs you off the road…

I’d love to see a market-based solution for this - maybe a Watchdogs style HUD in your car that could label dangerous drivers… Maybe the private toll roads require a user license???

That is a great point, and one that people in SF have been asking for years… Ultimately, if people are willing to pay for a taxi, the city needs to regulate their operation to avoid gridlock or similar harms.

That’s the point - Waymo are designing the self driving taxi for the high-value trips in cities with bounded driving conditions. It’s still very difficult, and they have a lot of remote operators ready to intervene, but at least the problem is bounded.

This wasn’t a Sunday afternoon chat with family, so why reminisce about the past? Notice how his lawyer (handler) has to jump in to protect him, because Biden is led around by Hur into admitting he held onto the classified document. The bar is not “draw a clock”, it’s “outwit other nations”

The administration had a chance to potentially prevent the disaster if they hadn’t forced the rail worker’s strike to end - Even if no one died, it’s stupid and evil that freight trains run with skeleton crews and minimal inspections.

There’s also lots of value in “memory items” - no one wants to work with an engineer who needs to use ChatGPT to to apply Ohm’s Law… Students should be quizzed on how well they understand the fundamentals!

Debatable, but unethical if the AI uses copyrighted materials without permission from the artists. That alone is enough to make me detest people who claim to make art with it, just like comedians who steal jokes.

I’d also say that if someone using “AI” to generate images can’t be bothered to create their ideas with their own hands, without stealing from real artists, why should I bother engaging with it?

I’m going to take a different tact, and say that because it’s a **work** instantly makes it interesting to me. There’s a potential for communication from the artist, whereas AI is just slop - no human experience or connection…

It’s also crazy to ignore the EW side of things - a system which does not require an active link, or refreshing the codes, can still be turned on the state rulers. A system with an active link is useless under isolated or harsh EM conditions.

This safety framework demands so much more than just assessing blame after mistakes. As a member of the flying public, we need to demand safety even if a pilot or controller fail to follow instructions. This can only be done by learning from mistakes and identifying causes, not punishing them.
