I can see how that could apply to, say, ITV who rely on ad revenue. But the BBC doesn’t have that burden. So why are they behaving like they do?

Why do they need to compete?

You’re not wrong. But one major reason I don’t see discussed: letting domestic fascists/foreign interference, who’d benefit from a weaker UK/EU, know their plan was unsuccessful. Rejoining on renegotiated terms would be their consolation prize. And take longer, prolonging the damage already done

Do you think AI can’t generate French speech with English subtitles? Disingenuous to question my intelligence. I don’t actually believe you’ve manipulated Macron’s clip but if you don’t see this lowers trust in your reporting maybe you should worry about your own ability

Wtf is that AI nonsense at the end?! How are we to believe those are Macron’s words with that bs in the same video??

It’s the middle paragraph blaming the national insurance and minimum wage hikes that gives the game away

You seem to think “unbiased” means find something to scrutinise both sides with. Whereas I can be unbiased by identifying the racial bias used to target one man and the misleading evidence they used to do it before they moved onto other accusations knowing the initial ones wouldn’t hold on their own

Rahul Sethi @sethi.dev · 24/08/2026
Did you? I asked you how he brings academia into disrepute and you responded with “do I need to rehash all the right wing lies?” and projected some scary “far left” ideology on me

They made clear that plagiarism is not phrasing sentences to match another source but presenting others’ ideas as one’s own. They found Arday did not do that. They used AI tools – not available when he submitted the work – to find evidence of littering and accused him of environmental pollution

Rahul Sethi @sethi.dev · 24/08/2026
A honest/lazy error where sentences were unintentionally phrased matching the cited source not caught by Arday, his supervisor, or viva panel is exactly that – an “honest” error. The investigation still judged it “wrong” in the binary sense but pointedly not relative to the allegations of plagiarism

“and we know that stereotypes generally have a basis in reality” wtaf 🤬

Rahul Sethi @sethi.dev · 24/08/2026
Maybe you meant something else but how does Arday bring academia into disrepute? The allegations were investigated and found false; no ideas were plagiarised

We could’ve had this same level of debt but without austerity with everything funded properly! Schools, courts, safety nets, PPE reserves! We’d have felt better off and the far right would have less despair to feed off of!

This is very easy to do. Proxy through all the style assets from the real site. Intercept the pages you want to amend/rewrite. Easily done manually, even easier to do with a single LLM prompt

If, as with recent labour leaks, they’re gauging public opinion before making a final _final_ decision, I think now is the right time to strongly pass judgement to the ‘rumours’

What’s your source on the £1m figure? Because I googled the wholesale price of 80 gWh and it’s £7-9m which would make not doing it beyond idiotic but fucking criminal

They’re phasing this in now in the UK – branded as Making Tax Digital. As if it wasn’t digital before with HMRC’s own (free) web tool, which they’re now deprecating in favour of a bunch of private companies competing to charge you for their half-baked software

3rd post in a row I’ve seen from you spreading fake news. There’s enough on Trump to take your pick from. Why are you doing this? Has your account been hacked??

IF when the present unpleasantness is over, I fear the political class will find it easier to pretend everything is back to normal than to push for any reform of the global order. The electorate, with recent memory of yet still worsening cost of living, will be propagandised to accept the status quo

In my head I live in a science fiction world where everyone is grown up and decent. As you say it's depressing to be reminded countless times a day how wrong I am 😬 I'm embarrassed by my species *sighs*

That doesn’t agree with other studies of that age group. And unless you’re going to link to the study, I’ll remain skeptical of that nonsense

Yep! because their conclusion doesn’t match the overarching views of that age group. Very sketchy from the guardian, honestly

Yeah it always baffles me when people advocate for tactical voting as if you’re not just being told who to vote for – that’s not a democracy, that’s not even voting anymore

The clip of Farage dismissing the FT’s question, about their commitment to state education when Reform’s top bench are all privately educated, was straight out of Trump’s playbook – literally vomit inducing

And if you made the effort to try understand, you’d find many of those “more pressing concerns” are tackled by a consistent plan to reduce the incentives of corporate profit over human rights – the most important ‘single issue’ – something Labour should be but isn’t offering

Rahul Sethi @sethi.dev · 08/12/2025
You may believe it yourself but you’re not (de)prioritising, you’re finding an excuse to just dismiss it. Denying trans people’s existence, genocide, dehumanising immigrants – these aren’t a single issue. The projected offence exemplifies your refusal to engage (because, no, you don’t understand) 🤷‍♂️

Rahul Sethi @sethi.dev · 08/12/2025
You were so close. I had a tiny bit of respect for not speaking about a topic you know little about. But now it’s clear you just don’t care about it. And you’ll use any excuse to dismiss it – how can you know how pressing it is if you don’t know enough to even engage? The logic is the offensive part
