Want to install VLC. Can't apt update, too old. Fine, update path to legacy. VLC installs, but videos freeze on frame one. Fiddle with VLC settings, no dice. Fine. Install entire-ass new OS. Plug in external drive. Can't read. Fine, I'll use a USB drive. Plug it in. Nothing happens. I hate Linux.

Thankfully they're nice and I just... talked to them lmao. Yeah, no, they literally can't hear it but I showed them a spectrogram. (...also, apparently other neighbors have also complained lol) I do feel bad for them, though. The squirrels broke their AC multiple times >^>

I've tried it several times! ...I don't really enjoy it for most of the reasons I listed. The pilot looks like they're having a blast, literally, whipping around firing nearly all the guns and projecting a directional energy shield ...I run around finding places to hold down [Interact]...

Maybe the issue is, apart from piloting and gunning, I don't really think there's much of a way to improve in any other role Like, there's no way to "get better" at extinguishing a fire or pressing the "hack" button or holding down the button to use a repair tool

I can *kind* of select focus targets but it's just one button - that is, if we don't kill the sensors for power because it's one of the first ones you cull I can "do research"? Not really, anyone can do that and it's a group consensus, anyway. Offensive hacking? Press one button. Zzzzzzz

I haven't really seen many 'science' stations, either. Pulsar has one but it's... extremely bare-bones. I stare at the shields and if it gets kinda low I press a button and bother the engineer for a recharge. I can maybe do the same math minigame to counterhack, and press a second button to buff us

'There are away missions!' FPS combat in most of the ones I've tried is... passable at best and vapid at worst. It's a ship game, I'd rather them make the ship parts better than tack on FPS parts 'because we need away missions' Also, let me provide air support, don't nerf ship guns vs the ground?!

'You can repair damage to the ship!' I dunno, running around trying to figure out if this stupid icon is inside or outside of the ship, cycling the airlock 1000 times, and playing a simple "hold the button down" or "tap when the bar lines up!" minigame feels like a child's distraction

'You can man the turrets!' Probably the second-most-likely role to actually be fun, though in some games the pilot gets turrets, too, and the gun you're manning feels wildly inconsequential Aiming while the spaceship spins around is usually terrible though
