1. Team does not meet sprint goals often, but never misses a deadline and has very low bug rate 2. Team meets all sprint goals, but misses deadlines sometimes and has noticeable bug rates. The main reason why I dislike Scrum A LOT is because it favours working like team 2. Don‘t be team 2 🙏

Unit testing each class of a system in isolation sounds good in theory: It ensures each piece works on its own. The hard truth is that it’s a practice that normally produces almost no value 🤷‍♂️ But it is even worse: it creates a false sense of safety and swallows lots of time from developers 🧵

Code Review Tip: When building UI-related features, include screenshots and/or a short demo video to your PR. This dramatically simplifies the review process as visual context helps catch design inconsistencies that might be missed in a code-only review.

Lately I’ve seen & suffered the consequences of teams not discussing out requirements that added too much complexity for very little value for the user. The best engineers I’ve worked with always tried to avoid complexity not to build 💩 on 💩 & that is way more important than being technically great

Why some devs ❤️ to write unnecessary overcomplicated solutions? These’re the 1st that shoot back, with side victims. Your features were using that api, they changed internals without informing & suddenly you get a bunch of 🐞 & stress. This has been the most stressful week in 11 years as dev KISS

A very important thing when implementing a library: ❌ Meaningful error messages Today Hilt was complaining about a “missing Provides method” It was mega misleading, since it had to do with a variable not having the right scope… 🙏 Please, never implement error messages like in Dagger…

Let’s say the “architect” of your project, made up of 4 teams, tells you that he’d like we write more integration tests with Appium and get rid of the redundant unit tests. Your team seems to be the only one against, argumenting that it hinders “fast feeback” loops… What would you do in this case?
